Not A Lot Done....

Today I took some of the theater trays to Wednesday Witches.  I thought that I would get the rest cut up and then start doing the covering of the bathroom tower... It was a nice thought... It didn't work.  When I got home, I had a cat and a witch both mad at me for not getting more done.
I did get all of the trays that I took cut apart. I looked at Barb's latest minis and enjoyed lots of good food. It wasn't enough to please Tessie or Kota.
Mostly, it was talking, laughing and having a good time. No. I didn't get anything glued to the walls, but I did enjoy the afternoon.  Now I am hoping to start tomorrow morning, early.  I am determined to get this thing going! I am having one of those days when Blogger is not co-operating with me.  I am having to fight to get the photos to the left and the writing is going everywhere but where I want it. I am going to quit for tonight and start everything again tomorrow. It will have to be a better day.  See you then!

Sunset, Kota and a Meeting of the Minds...

Here's another one of our beautiful sunsets... I am late today and this was taken just before I started writing... It is almost like the sky is on fire!
Kota doesn't care.  He has two new boxes to sleep in.  I finally took the sheets out of the bottom of the box yesterday and he has been in the bottom most of the time since I emptied it.

He does like any new cardboard boxes that come into the house.  Notice that he has several of his favorite toys in there with him.
Now for the important part... Is it possible to work on three buildings at once???

I think that I am in all kinds of trouble.

These three think that it is a possibility, to work on all three at the same time.... I think NOT!

At the rate we are going, I may go back to square one and start the trailer... and let the best Man or Woman win!

Today was Witch's day, so I didn't get a lot done and all three of these people are mad that I wasn't home working on at least one of their buildings... I think that I would like to be excused now... I am going to bed early and sleep on this mess that I have gotten myself into!!! See you tomorrow.

Maybe Not Such a Good Idea......

I introduced Mini Me to the Witches today... That was pretty good. They passed her around and said "Hello" to her.

But then we had cake for dessert and she jumped on the plate and managed to eat a pretty good sized piece for a Mini Me! I am going to have to do something about that.  I don't want to gain weight when we exchange bodies.

She was enjoying the cake just a little too much!
Then I caught her in the fridge, reading the labels on the soft drinks.  At least she approved of the diet Dr. Pepper.

I guess that is a good thing... Maybe.

She managed to grab a little to eat off of each of the witch's plates... Not a good thing...
A little while ago, I went into the bedroom.  I found her sleeping it off in the bedroom on one of my carved beds.

She was all snuggled up in the fabric that I am going to make her levis from.  At least she approves of that.

I just have to make sure that she doesn't make friends with Tessie! That could be a disaster.  The two of them and only one of me...

That will never work!

I am going back and making plans for that NOT to happen now.  See you tomorrow!

Keep Her Busy!

I overheard the conversation, so I knew what was coming...

Zar and Tessie came to me a little while ago and told me that they wanted the day off...

I think that they heard me call Witch Barb and tell her that I wasn't coming today. I have allergies that just won't quit!

They told me that I should go clean out some of  My Big Closet... They always capitalize to make a point.

Who am I to complain?
I knew exactly what to do.  I needed to go through the sock yarn and get serious about Christmas present preparation.

I am in pretty good shape for yarn....Probably a dozen or so pair to make...

Then I decided to see how many #2 needles I still had to fill....

I can start seven more pair before I have to start finishing any...

Yes. I know that I should finish some, but that would be too much like accomplishing something.

I like starting things.  I don't seem to like finishing so much.  I will work on some of the ones that I already have started... Then I will start a few more and then finish a bunch.

Yeah.  That sounds like a plan.  I have seven sets of needles.  Seven more pair of socks to start.  Then finish them all! By the way... Don't hold your breath until I am done! This could take a while...

Back to work.  See you tomorrow.

On and On It Goes....

Poor Tessie.  I took her dress last night and she still doesn't have another one.

She is wrapped in a handkerchief. And to make matters worse, Spike is keeping her from going and finding something to wear.

The clothes were so tattered and torn that Tessie didn't object a bit to getting rid of them.

I got a call from the person that was supposed to be having Wednesday Witches today.  She couldn't have it.   So I volunteered to have it. I told everyone to bring a sack lunch and I would provide drinks and dessert.

That worked out well, but it didn't lend itself to getting anything done.  We did more chatting and eating than doing anything in the way of minis.

I did demonstrate how to make hangers from paper clips, but no minis were really made otherwise. We were each doing our own thing. We had a wonderful time just chatting and messing around.

I walked into the workroom to put a few things away after everyone left, but that only showed me a few more piles to put away.

Somehow the workroom never does get completely straightened before something else happens.

I either have to start cleaning again or dress Tessie... I think that Tessie is the lesser of the two evils.  Back to finding her some new clothing.  See you tomorrow.

Leftovers!

Today the Wednesday Witches went downtown to Witch Judy's restaurant for Lunch. It is called Café a la C'arte.

It is in a large house that was built in the 1850s and is still beautiful.  Back when it was built, the homes in Tucson were built with extra thick walls to keep the homes a bit cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  It did help some, but I think that in the middle of summer it would have still been quite warm.

The walls in the restaurant are between 1 1/2 and two feet thick.  The interiors have been repainted over the years and someone did a beautiful job of painting the beams with authentic designs.

The furniture that is used in the restaurant is reminiscent of the furniture of the period, if not the real thing.

Anyway, the servings are huge and you get a lot of bang for your buck.

I had half a sandwich and a goodly pile of fancy fries left over and about half of my Chocolate Bomb dessert left over.

Walter loved the fries and the Cuban sandwich that I had left and this was the first time that I have seen Tessie smile in a week...

I have been forgiven for not finishing her grapevines.  She has been piling the chocolate bomb in with both fists.  I have a feeling that the next step will be licking her own toes.  She has been sitting on the edge of the container ever since Walter finished what he wanted of it.  Both feet are dug into the cake part and she is not showing any sign of stopping.  I am just going to let her keep eating.  That way I can get a good night's sleep and go back to work tomorrow.

See you then.

Left Behind...

What's wrong with this photo?

It's simple... There are no leaves in the box.  Not one!!!

I was going to build some trees at the Wednesday Witches meeting today... Couldn't do it.  I got there and there was not even one leaf to be seen!
When I got home, Tessie was all anxious to see the new trees... Nope... Not one.

I also can't seem to find the frame for the opening in the little tower.

I checked and made sure that all of the other components were in the bag.

They seem to be.
I did find the leaves. They were in a separate bag.  I am not sure that I like them. They seem a bit large to me. I may have to cut some by hand. When I looked around for them, I found some punches too.  I am not sure how these will look until I try them.
I am going to give up for tonight.  See you tomorrow.

Quiet Wednesday

I rounded up some animals for Amare's room this morning.
Then off I went to Joan's for Wednesday Witches...

I tried working on a basket for Amare's box yesterday.

I didn't like the first try on the right side, so I started over... I didn't get very far, but I do like the second try better. That was all I accomplished today...
Joan had a "free" garage sale on her couch... we each got a bag to fill with whatever we wanted.  This was my haul.  Lots of goodies.

Beads, wood and yarn. The tubes are empty bead tubes. I can always use more of those.

Don't ask what I am going to do with all of it.  I am just going to think about it for a while.
I looked around for Tessie... She and Kota were taking a nap together when I got home... This means that they both are out of commission for the rest of the afternoon.

That means that I can take the rest of the afternoon off without them complaining at me.

I am going to relax.

See you tomorrow with more minis.

Ready To Go!

Albert got to go to Wednesday Witches this afternoon...

I took his photo when he started waiting... It was 6:36 AM when I took the photo.  He was there until about 12:15PM, when we left.
As soon as we got back he headed to his favorite spot on the front porch with Tessie.  Tessie is an old hand at Wednesday Witches.  She has gone a number of times.

Her advice? Close your ears and take a nap while the witches chat... It's boring!
When I came in here to write the blog, he followed.  Dragging his chair and capturing one of the animals from the top of the computer screen... It seems that he is a "Peanuts" fan and held the Woodstock bird all of the time I was writing.

I don't think that he trusts me not to leave him somewhere that he doesn't want to be.

As soon as I finish this, I will carry him back to his front porch.  Tessie hasn't taught him to zap yet and the time machine doesn't work for inside the house trips...

So, we will now say "Goodnight" and be on our merry way back to the front porch for him, and the bedroom for me.

See you tomorrow.

Albert's Waiting...

I got Sidetracked.  I had good intentions of doing Albert this afternoon.

It didn't happen.  I got a call from April.  She and Amare wanted to come over and help me decorate for Wednesday's Halloween Party.

I told her to come on over.

We had a great time.

I worked on the back door.  I have never done that before.  It turned out pretty well.  Webs and Spiders all over the place...
April volunteered to do the bookcase.  I usually do that... I gave her the ladder and some spider webs and told her to have at it.

She did great.  The top also have some weird lights.  I forgot to turn them on before taking the photos.
Amare did most of the rocking chair... I am going to have to add spiders to that one.

Looking pretty good so far.

Kota thinks we are all mad.  I am going to have fun keeping him out of the webs.

He is fascinated with the sudden appearance of all of those spiders and webs... Not a good thing.

I may have to remove the bottom half of that one until the day of the party!

He seems to think that I put them there for his amusement.

I am going now to see what I can do to prevent him from swallowing spiders and webs whole.

Back to the family room.  See you tomorrow.

If It Isn't One Thing...

It's another... I couldn't work on the two rooms this morning because this got in the way.

We are going over to stay with Amare while his mom goes to a meeting.  Seth is out of town so we are the elected sitters.

I found this shelf out in the garage and decided it would be good for some of Amare's latest treasures.

April says that his room is starting to look like a natural history museum.  He is collecting rocks and other nature things.
This morning, I added the sign and we will take it with us this afternoon.

This is going to be a full day.
It is Wednesday so there will be a gathering of witches.  As soon as I get home we will leave for Aprils.

The title was suggestive of what is going on in the back yard now.

For the past few weeks, the hummingbird feeders have been cleaned out by bats every night.  This is a yearly happening.  The hit here every winter when the season starts to change and it gets cooler.

Just when the bats seem to have left(migration) the bees take over. They are just starting now.  They will also disappear in a couple of weeks.  The poor hummingbirds are having to wait in line to eat.
I am not sure what I did to make Kota mad, but for the past two days, he has been ignoring me.

I did something that he didn't like. He is at least posing for me when he sees the camera.  Otherwise he just puts his nose in the air.

I will wait patiently until he gets done being in a snit.

If looks could kill....

Anyway, I thought that I had better write something before Wednesday Witches.  There probably won't be much time after.

I am off to get ready to go.

See you tomorrow.

A Dark and Stormy Night....

Today the witches came here for the afternoon...

We made hats.  I haven't done any for a long time and it was fun.  I got them going with some velvet ribbon and patterns.  Some of the others brought trims to share.

First they got a tour of my "new workroom".  They were very impressed.  Some had never seen it before.  That's how bad it was.  I have been known to post large KEEP OUT! signs on the door in desperation.

They were very impressed.  A clean room can do that.  If the owner has a reputation for being very MESSY.
Now we are waiting for the storm that may or may not be building off to the west.  I am hoping for rain, so that I won't have to water tomorrow... I am NOT holding my breath.  It looks dark, but no sprinkles yet...

Back to clean up duty in the kitchen.

See you tomorrow.

Success!

Well, they worked!  I am very happy with the Spanish Tile.

After the glue dried, I painted the whole thing with a coat of terra cotta.

I still don't have the rest of the rocks on the corners and the edges of the foundation painted yet... One thing at a time.
I cut a piece of the theater tray the length of the roof and bent it in an L shape.  Then I painted it metallic copper.
I went back with a tiny bit of territorial beige for accent.

I still can see some spots that I missed.

I took it to Wednesday Witches.  When I got it out of the car in the sunlight, I could see some spots that I missed between the tile.

I am going to take it out on the back porch tomorrow and repaint it again...

That is, if I feel like it.
Tomorrow, bright and early, I have to go in and have the port that was used for taking the medicine every day when I was doing chemo, taken out.

They make you keep it in for a year, "Just in case".  That is just in case the cancer comes back and you need to go through the treatments again.

It has not returned, so essentially, when this thing is gone, I am back to normal... Whatever that is in my case...

Anyway, I am off to the hospital at 5:00AM. I have to be there at 5:30 and the surgery, which only takes about 15 minutes, can be performed at 7:30.  Here we go again.

See you tomorrow.

She Shed.He Shed. Dog Shed!

I had the witches here today...

This was dessert.  My first Trifle!

It looks good, but the brownies that I did it with were a little well done and crunchy.  Everybody liked it anyway... I will get better next time... If there is a next time.

Tessie and Zar volunteered to help clean up... The bowl...

I took Tessie's She Shed back to the bedroom after everyone went home.

I was standing there looking at it and then looked to the left.

It dawned on me that I have been making sheds longer than I thought...

Spike has had a Dog Shed longer than anybody has had a He or She Shed!

I did this one quite a while ago and Spike has lived there for a year or two now.

It qualifies in all the right ways.  It is small.  It has a purpose.  He sleeps and eats there.  He stores all of his collars and toys there.

If you want to see more about how it was built, just go to "dog house" in the side bar. There are a couple of entries.
He has been known to have a few friends over to party... Thus the bowls, balls and other toys.

Yup.  Spike is the original He Shed owner!

The other two just have copies.

I am glad that I made his first.  He uses it.  He keeps it clean and he enjoys it.  That's what the sheds are for.

Now if I could only get Tessie and Zar to keep theirs clean... That would be one step in the right direction.

Thanks for doing things right Spike!  Good dogie!

Back to work.  See you tomorrow.

Walter's Coming Home Tonight...

Kota isn't talking to me.  He thinks that I am hiding Walter somewhere.  He wants him back. It's all my fault that he isn't here.
Tessie is in the new potions room mixing madly.  She says that she is going to help me clean up by mixing a potion that will make me work faster...

Meanwhile that mess on the counter is getting bigger by the minute.
After everyone left, I started cleaning up and the piles aren't getting any smaller... The mess is all over the house.  Not the Witches fault... My fault.

I am just not in the mood for cleaning up...Bah Humbug!
And now the mess that is in the workroom is creeping towards the hall doorway... I am afraid to go in there.  Someone or something is pushing the stuff towards the door.  It seems to happen every time I  turn my head the other way...

Walter is just going to have to take it in stride and I will clean tomorrow... Or the next day... Or the day after that.........

Well. One of these days I will get the mess cleaned up... Honest!

See you tomorrow. After I do some cleaning...
