International Cat Day!

When I got home from Wednesday Witches, Letty was sitting on the edge of the house that she wants.

She was not alone.  Kota was helping...
She told me that he helped her guard it all of the time that I was away.  He even kept the gremlins away...

Why do I mention this?  Because it is International Cat Day!!! And he is celebrating being a cat.

He got extra treats and some ham to celebrate.

We didn't even know that he liked ham until yesterday.  I tried giving him some bites and he was immediately hooked!

If you have a cat be sure to tell him or her "Happy International Cat Day!!!"

I am off to try to drag the box from under the bed. Wish me luck.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day...

I spent my Mother's Day working in the back yard.

I planted...

Then I planted some more...

Then I came in the house and decided that Kota had the right idea for celebrating Mother's Day...

I have decided to spend the rest of the day laying around and watching TV.

I will go back to work tomorrow...

See you then!!!

Happy Mother's Day

OK... It's a day early.  We went over to April, Seth's and Amare's for an early Mother's day brunch. Seth's parents and brother were here.

Amare showed off the new shirt that Gayle sent him and the changes to his mini room box.

Both are looking good!
Me?  No cleaning in the workroom today...

Early Mother's day.  I will clean tomorrow.
Yes. I know that the floor is still a mess...
I did, however get a pot of really pretty orchids for Mom's Day.

Yes it is a day early, but I gladly accepted them anyway. Thank you April, Seth and Amare!

I will count this as mom's day and I will go back to cleaning tomorrow.  That seems logical to me...

I promise to go back into the workroom tomorrow, bright and early.  See you then.

Happy Easter and April Fools Day too!

This morning I got more cleaning and moving done on the back porch.

I just moved things around here and there.

Much more comfortable to sit out there now.
It's amazing what a couple of weeks can do for plants.  The pomegranate Tree had no leaves at all about two weeks ago.

This is what it looks like now. The fig tree is still fighting to live, so I am going to get it going again. Walter is redoing the run off from the cooler so that it will drip irrigate the pomegranate and the fig.  That should help get a better crop on both.

The little kumquat tree is going great.  It has several blossoms on it now. I don't expect a big crop this year, but I think that it is going to do well where we planted it.
I suppose that I should report on Tessie's progress... I found some purple grapes and piled those on top of the other things that she needs for the vines... She is not a happy camper.  More work for her.  Less work for me.

April and Amare came over today.  Seth is out of town for his job.  We had a good time but missed him.

Anyway, that's how our Easter went.  I hope that yours was as nice as ours.

Back to watching TV and playing with Kota.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Me...

This is going to be a short one. I am in the middle of celebrating my birthday.

I made myself another one of those rings with some of the chips that I got at the gem show. This one is random chips. I kind of like it.  It will go with everything.

Walter got me a gift certificate for my favorite store!  Did you know that Goodwill has gift cards? I didn't. I love it.  It's like having free stuff from Goodwill for a while!

The gang moved the party from Zar's Tudor Trailer to his split level den.

They managed to talk Daisy out of her rope ladder and that's how everyone got up there.

Eskiaga is the last one to arrive.  He is pulling the rope ladder up, so that nobody else can get in. If you're late, you just have to forget about it.

In my case, they decided that I wasn't invited because I am too big!  The nerve!  I'm the one with the birthday and I don't even get cake!

Tessie rudely informed me that, "You would eat it in half a bite and there wouldn't be any for the rest of us!".  She's right.  That's the cake in her left hand.

So, I am sitting on the outside, looking in at my party.  Oh well.  We have big people plans for a celebration this Saturday and THEY aren't invited!  So there!

See you tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day

This is going to be a short one.  The only minis that you get to see are the ones on my Mom's Day card.

Tessie, Zar and Kota all got in on the photo shoot.  Then Walter made the card.

It's nice to know that I am not the only one in the family that believes in little people... and cats that talk...

The regular sized kids are coming over a little later.  That should be fun.

I have to show you the last of my Christmas presents for this year.

It may have to make Kota a collar.

This is a loom that has been around for a couple of years, since I had credit, I finally broke down and bought one.

It makes the piece the exact size that you want.  And then, unlike other looms, you don't have a huge amount of loose ends to get rid of.

I tried it out yesterday.  I think that once I get the hang of the very last row, I will have a winner.  We shall see.

Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to those of you that celebrate it and Happy Sunday to those that don't.

See you tomorrow!

Wearing of the Green....

This morning we had a visit from my favorite miniature... April and Amare were here and we went to the park for a while.

It's hard to believe that Amare has only been around for 3 1/2 years.  Sometimes he out thinks all of us...  Way ahead of the game...

After they left, I had to hunt down Tessie.  She was not in any of her usual haunts... She was actually at home!

I knew that there was something up when I saw the new apron and she greeted me with "Top o' the mornin', Casey!"

When she greets me in a good mood, I am instantly suspicious.

First she went for Zar.  He was minding his own business, working on the observatory...  I had to hold him back after she pinched him.

Spike wouldn't even get close to her...

Then she decided that cats need pinching too...!
I am too busy running around, trying to keep Tessie's head attached to her body... So far it's working... I don't know for how long though.

Back to keeping Kota from swallowing her whole.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

See you tomorrow.

Red, White and Blue...

OK.  It's the Fourth of July... What better way to celebrate than make a Red, White and Blue project?

Tessie came to me this morning, complaining..."My hair is a mess.  I need to spend a day of beautifying...

In other words, she needed new hair.

She agreed to let me take one photo after I stripped her head, only if she could hide her face and be anonymous.

I said I would, then I snapped this part before she could completely cover her face.  Sorry Tessie...
She quickly slapped the hair on her lap onto her head and let out a shriek and a stream of curses... I dodged them all or I would be running around in a cockroach's body right now.  Thank goodness, I'm fast.

The hair that you see on her lap is all I need to make a braid for the back of her hair... Yup.  Same hairdo.  Same color...She's in a rut.  Has been for about 400 years.
Incidentally, if you want to braid hair for a little person, the easiest way is to do it on a clipboard, before you put it on her head.

The braid was made from about 5" of the mohair, when stretched out. It is about 4" when braided.  No standard measures.  I make it longer than I need and then just cut off the excess.
I simply did a snail coil of the braid and used white glue to fasten it to the back of her head and then put a new lace "crown" around it.

She is now a perfect picture of Red, White and Blue.

Happy Forth of July to those who celebrate it.  I hope that everybody has a great day!

See you tomorrow.

Rockin' On, With 85,000 Stitches To Go...

OK....I took all of the movie cartons off and now I am starting to replace them with Model Air.

I wonder if Sculpey bought the rights to DAS?  DAS is no longer to be found, but the Model air seems to be the same stuff.  Works like a charm.

As you can see, I do put glue under it to make sure that it sticks to the surface.  Some people don't.  I would rather be safe than sorry.
Since I changed to the clay, I can get even more realistic stone.

My tools are the ones that you see in front.  An old cut up credit card and a well worn stencil brush.  That's all.  No fancy sculpting tools.

I can't use the whole package of clay at one time, so I put it in a large, well sealed zip lock bag.  See the wet paper towel next to the package? That's another piece of clay that I chopped off, but haven't used yet.  The wet paper towel helps keep that piece from hardening and also keeps moisture in the bag for the other clay.
Now.  About the 85,000 stitches... I did my usual count.  This one is going to have 85,809 stitches in all.  I did close to nine hundred last night.  Only a little more to go............
Here's my latest magazine basket.  It's a tray that I made for April and Seth for Valentine's Day.  Oh!  I forgot to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!  Happy Valentine's day to you!!!

Anyway, I finished this one yesterday.  I wasn't trying to get fancy with the copper wire.  I just thought that it would last longer with some reinforcement on the handles.  That was the only way I could think of to do it.

I am going to put a tag on it, saying that April and Seth go together like salt and pepper.  Hey!  That's all I could think of on short notice.  They like odd ingredients for cooking.  This is the first time I have ever seen Smoked Sea Salt.  Sounds good to me.

April and Amare are on their way over, so I have to go.

See you tomorrow.

Giving Thanks....

Good Morning.  To those that celebrate Thanksgiving today, Happy Thanksgiving.  And to all of you, have a great Thursday!

Since we are leaving for Phoenix in a little while, I won't be doing minis today...

But the minis are having a Thanksgiving celebration at Zar's place.  The Clockwork Caravan is rockin'.
It is a small gathering this year.  There is a gathering on the roof.  Zofi, Nellie and Esmeralda  have taken it over and from the looks of the drinking bottle, they probably could hold off an army.  I am not sure what it is, but it looks lethal.
Downstairs, Eskiaga, as the resident Native American Apache, is being treated to a day off....He came in, sat down and put his feet up.

Unfortunately the weaver of gold sat down on the other end of the sofa and has been telling him her life story....It's a very long one.  Poor Eskiaga...

Lettice just arrived and is demanding a proper place to be seated....Looks like we will have to send someone out for more "proper" chairs.  Nothing left but a footstool and a bed.  That just won't do.
Cordelia and Tessie have the only proper chairs and neither of them are going to give them up...

Zar gets the honor of carving the turkey....There may be a slight problem.  He couldn't find the carving knife...The cats and Tessie are all begging him not to do it with the only implement he could find...A very large Phillips screwdriver from his workroom...

In other words, it is a normal day in the household.  For some reason, Spike went on a walkabout early this morning...I can't find him anywhere.  I am thinking he is the only smart one in the group.

He probably will return this afternoon, when everyone is passed out on turkey dinner and spirits.  He will finish off the rest of the turkey in nothing flat....No interference from anyone whatsoever.

See you tomorrow

Happy Fourth!!!

For some of us it is...Personally, I am digging out the workroom.  That makes me happy.

Walter is playing golf. That makes him happy.

And the Terrible Two are nowhere to be seen...  I do hear party noises coming from somewhere...They sound happy...

I can now see the floor, the worktable top and the top of the desk...
The only one that stuck with me, for the cleaning, was Spike.  I had to bribe him with a soft bed, a glass of bullion, and a good horror movie on TV.

Every now and then, he gets bored and I have to do a bit of channel surfing to keep him amused.  At least I have someone to talk to.
When I get bored, I look for proof that I have been working...I looked up at the fan, going full blast and saw a kind of Steampunk photo op.

The thing that is hanging from it is a Japanese Towel dryer...I must be really bored if I find that fascinating...but I must be working, the fan feels really good.
I also move furniture when boredom sets in.  I moved the $9.00 dollhouse back to the family room this morning.  Switched with the cat tree.

This time, I left the skirt off of the table.  The hand carved legs are the prettiest part.

Can you tell that I am rambling...?
At one point, I turned around and spotted this...

Tessie and Zar in Margaritaville. They renamed his rooftop tent for the holiday.

It isn't even 9:00AM and they are both already celebrating...With Margaritas and beer... I do hope that they don't decide to try for a barbecue on the roof...

Anyway, that's why they couldn't help...Wouldn't help...Oh well.  I am not going to feel sorry for them when the hangovers get them in a few hours.

That's what they get for starting early!

Back to my workroom.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day...

That's all I really had to say...
As a mother, I am officially taking the day off.
See you tomorrow.

Crocheting a Happy Easter....

Happy Easter from Tessie and the Mad Peruvian Bunny.  Unfortunately, that's the only bunny around here.  We make do with what we can find...

He's not really ideal for cuddling ...Look at those claws!
I decided that the cottage needs an afghan to take naps with....It has been a while since I did any mini crochet.  It is taking a while to get back into the swing of things.

I am using mercerized cotton sewing thread and a #14 hook.

This is an old hook and smaller than some of the new #14s.

I am just doing a granny square and simply not stopping where most people stop when they sew them together. There are millions of patterns for granny squares on the net, so I am not going to repeat it here.

Crochet Pattern Central is a great place to look if you need patterns. http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/

The first photo was taken at about 10:00am.  I had five rows done then.

At 11:00am I had eight rows finished.  Each row gets bigger as you go and I need to get back into mini crocheting...This could take a while...

Maybe I should say, "See you next Easter!"

Just kidding...See you tomorrow.
