Barn Wood Builder...

Any of you that watch HGTV and DIY networks are probably familiar with the Barn Wood Builders programs.  I am having fun messing with the concept.

I am covering the counters and appliances in the kitchen with walnut.  When I have them done, they will look like distressed barn wood.

This is the front of the refrigerator.  It still has a way to go.  I can see it in my head.  Now all I have to do is get it into the kitchen.
I keep working on the pieces and then trying them in the space to see how they are coming along...

More weathering needed here.
I am debating what kind of counter tops I want...

Not more wood.  I am almost thinking that it would be fun to put fancy marble counter tops on just for contrast.  We shall see...

Tessie approves so far.

I'm not so sure about Spike.  He keeps chewing on the rawhide door handles.  Not a good sign.

OK.  I need to go back to work now.

See you tomorrow.

I really like that barnwood choice for this project. Honed marble counters would be a good contrast in texture to the other rougher surfaces. So many collars of marble to choose from, you will have fun testing them out.

Hi Casey. As a matter of fact, I was just watching the HGTV program Fixer Upper. They do a lot of things with reclaimed wood. That's great if you like that Farmhouse style.
It fits right in with Waco, Texas. However, I don't live in that vicinity and my
style is Traditional.
Have you ever tried changing everything on the bed with a cat on it? That's what I
had to contend with today. She is a very smart cat. When I told her to move her paws
off the bed, she climbed on top of the jewelry box which was on the table next to the
bed and watched me finish the bed from there. Some people say cats are independent and distant. Not my cat! She and I are best friends. She's very affectionate and playful
and loves to sit on my lap.She sits near my feet all night on top of the bedspread.
And she comes and looks me in the face in the morning when she wants to eat.

It's nice to have different textures and marble counters would be a good contrast to the barn wood. I have never seen it that I can remember but who knows, you might be starting a trend.
