Easily Distracted

Is my middle name... I did another coat of Midnight blue Ceramcoat on the living room walls this morning and sanded and re stained the floor.

Then the distraction... Waiting for paint and stain to dry is not my strong suit.

I sent a photo of this jar to some of my friends last night.  We were talking about "looping" and I said that needle lace was a lot like it. This was to illustrate what I was saying.

My friend Beryl wanted to learn.  Knowing that she is well versed in needlework, I was a little surprised that she hadn't tried it. I sent her the names of a couple of good books to try.

So..... Whilst the paint was drying this morning, I got curious about U Tube and MSN photos.  Not a lot on U Tube, but I found something else...

Need I say it?  Off on another tangent.

I found something called Turkish Oya Lace.  There were all kinds of instructions on U Tube for that.

I have seen it before, but didn't know how it was done or what it was called.

I am slightly excited, because it is done with fine thread and a needle.  They even make beautiful flowers with this technique.

It is simply done as an edging on scarves, as a beginning.  Then after you learn the one stitch, you can get as complicated as you want.

They did have other laces mixed in.  Some crochet and tatting was on the same search.  I avoided those, because I already know how to do that.

I was surprised at how simple the Oya lace was.  It looks so complicated.  I am thinking that the simpler versions could be done as edging on tablecloths and bedding in mini...

Please don't tell on me.  I am going to go see if I can do it.  Wish me luck!
