The Vikings Are Coming....

When I got up this morning, I knew I couldn't make my feet move past the wire that I bought yesterday, without trying it.

My fascination with Viking Knit Jewelry has not abated.

It amazes me how one simple loop over and over, round and round can make the beautiful chain. This is what it looks like while you are working on it.

When you are finished looping and your fingers are sore, you pull it through holes on a board to make it smaller and smaller in diameter.

I still need a lot of practice, but I am getting better...

I did the looping for this one yesterday and put it together this morning.

If I put it on my wrist, you couldn't see it all at once, so this is the view that you get.
The great critic is once more in residence.  As soon as I finished taking photos of it, Tessie grabbed it and put it around her neck....

"This is much to large, heavy and out of scale.  It hurts my neck."

We had a long talk about how not everything that I make belongs to her.  And another long talk how not everything that I make is in one inch to the foot scale.

Then she started in with, "Well! You still need to make is smaller and lighter.  I can't wear this!'

It looks like I need to talk some more...

She sat there quietly for a few minutes....Then, out of the blue, she came up with one of her brilliant observations..."You know.....This would make wonderful chain mail, if Zar ever needs it...I'll have to show it to him"

Here's hoping that Zar doesn't like the idea of wearing chain mail... Back to the Vikings.

See you tomorrow.

What a wonderful technique Casey. I really like the look of this. Actually I think Tessie might be on to something. Challenging but would look great. Might be a bit of a challenge in 1/12th scale though!

Hehehe, that Tessie! She cracks me up!
But she's right, it would look stunning. I love that no matter the technique, you always succeed at making something beautiful!
