Buttering It Up....

Do you have a spare butter knife?  If not, get one...Thrift shops are a good place to look for them.

It is a handy dandy tool for getting your spackle into small areas.  If you pick the right one, You can do all kinds of things that other tools don't do.

This room has all kinds of nooks and crannies and the butter knife can get into them all...Neatly.

Granted, I did have to go back and wipe things off here and there, but wrapping a wet paper towel around the point of the knife can get you into the same places to clean off the excess.

You may be wondering why I only have one light in the upper area now...As I was finishing the wiring this morning, the other two died.  These were old lights and may have even been English.  the wires on them were smaller and they didn't want to have the coating stripped off.

Anyway,  they gave up the ghost.  I have a couple of more modern lights, but I really liked these.  I am now debating replacing the one that is up there with two more modern ones or keeping just one of the old ones.

The fireplace is still not fastened in.  I need to decide how I am going to access the back area where the wires will be hidden. 

And it will be easier to install the book shelves and desk before that is permanently attached.

I tried a piece of foam core behind the fireplace, to represent a continuation of the wall where Tessie is leaning. I think that I will do that.  It seems to finish off the fireplace area. 

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Just a few more days left in this project.
