Fast and Furious...Times Three....

This morning we left the house at 6:15AM to go out to Dove Mountain....Walter wanted to show me the golf course there.  We figured that there wouldn't be much traffic...There wasn't.

Why so early?  We wanted to catch a movie in a new theater on that end of town....It takes an hour to get out to the north side where that is.  And we wanted to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel before the 9:00 showing of Fast and Furious Six.

OK...Now you know.  I have a weakness for movies with good car stunts and lots of action...This one was pretty good as the series goes.

If you go see it, be sure to watch for the world's longest airport runway!  Towards the end of the movie, the bad guy runs his car up onto a reallllly big transport plane.  The next ten to fifteen minutes is taken up with the plane getting up to speed and trying to get in the air...All while cars are crashing, hooking themselves to the plane with grappling hooks and everyone is shooting at everyone else.  Finally after we were about ten minutes into the scene, Walter leaned over to me and whispered, "Just how long IS this runway?".  I adopted a wait and see attitude....

Anyway, when we got back, I started hunting for a new project.

I found Tessie in the Archeologist's office, chasing snakes.  For her, that's a fun sport.  If she catches them, she just lets them go and starts from the beginning.  At least it keeps her out of other trouble.

That gave me a new direction.

I remembered that I still have three of the four boxes that I bought at the time.  They were raw wood and I bought them at Big Lots, when it was still McFrugel's...It's been a while.

I got out a can of stain and did the other three at once.  Now all I have to do is figure out what to put inside.

Shall we play a game?  One of the flat topped boxes will be for you to decide on.  First of all, suggestions for what kind of theme it will have.

The catch is....You will write the suggestion and I will pick one.  Then I will ask for things like wall color or wallpaper.  You will suggest.  I will pick one that I think will work.  Then other things like shelving or something else to go on the inside of the lid.  Keep in mind it will be in the vertical position, like the one behind Tessie.

I will be working on at least one of the other ones at the same time...To alleviate boredom.  I will show you that.  I will not show you the one with your suggestions until it is finished.

Are you ready?  Today it is suggestions for theme or type of room, please.

If nobody responds on a particular day, I get to choose.  I'm waiting........

See you tomorrow.

How about a hunter's cabin? Or part of the main room of a larger hunting lodge?

I have a big list, Casey. Once I start thinking, the ideas just keep coming. Sewing room, baby's room, romantic dinner for two scene, jewelry store, kitchen scene, bookstore, camping scene, bakery, old fashioned classroom, bathroom, funeral parlor scene, summer porch, secret garden scene, Edwardian kitchen, Christmas scene, dress shop, candy store, deli, photography store, Cinderella scene with a huge fireplace, Snow White scene with glass coffin in a forest scene, fabric store, and a lamp store.

Is this like Mad-Libs for minis? What a stitch!

How about a child's or teenager's room?

Hi Casey. I suggest you decorate the other three boxes to represent
three other sciences. This will coordinate the three new boxes to go with the Archeology box you have already done.
Now to give you a challenge. Each
box must represent a different age
of the owner, such as a young boy
interested in Astronomy, a 20-
something gal who is an Astrologer.
A middle-aged man who teaches
Geology and a senior citizen looking back on his career in
Paleontology.
What do you think?

Did I mention that the footprint of the box is only 6 3/8" by 3 3/8"? It will be just part of whatever room I do.LOL. Good suggestions so far.

A lost and found property room - at a school, theatre, Dr's office??? That way you could have a fun mix of things.

Yes Casey. Each will be a vignette,
like the Archeologist's Office.

I have a couple suggestions as well... I've enjoyed the projects you've done with the baskets and wicker -- I like the idea of a scene focusing on these, think a wicker table or chair with a basket of fresh picked fruit or veggies. Other idea that's coming to mind is something with a Celtic theme, I'm a mutt mix -- but sincerely love Celtic themed minis, and not too many seem to do these. lol

Oh some interesting suggestions. I am going to make a note of one or two as I have made my self promise no more houses only room boxes!! My immediate thought was a 'hobbit' house or something 'other wordly'

A potions lab for Tessie? (She's going to hog what ever you make anyways.)

Tessie could just zap it to travel sized and take with her when she goes somewhere... :P

Sorry I'm late - for some reason your new posts don't show up on my bookmark until a full day later. Anyway - I love Phylissa's idea but I'm going to go sentimental and say - with father's day coming up, how about making it the corner of a golf pro shop? I can see shelves with golf-related items and little polo shirts hanging on the wall for sale in the cover section, then a counter of sorts, a couple of filled golf bags, pcitures of the course on the wall, etc. in the larger side. Just a thought. - Marilyn

Hi casey,
If I had to fill a trunk like that I would try to make a surrealist space...one of those rooms with stairs going in every direction...or a stair that goes to nowhere or into a black hole....sorry, been reading up on my surrealist artists!
Big hug,
Giac

An arcane room, perhaps something from Tessie's past. This way, she could do, I mean help you with it.

OK. I am closing the suggestion box for room ideas now. A little later, I will be back with the next request. Hang in there! And thanks for the ideas!

Giac, I can draw the staircases like Escher, but I don't think that anyone could build one....You try....I will watch.LOL

Marilyn, Walter already has a whole golf shop as a living room lamp base. I don't have anything golf-ish that isn't put in there.

Ooooh Casey - could you show us Walter's lamp base pro shop? I don't think I've seen it , but would love to. Thanks for all the inspirstion. - Marilyn

Hopeful, if you go to http://caseymini.blogspot.com/2008/03/true-to-my-word.html
You can see a couple of photos of the outside. I have problems trying to get good shots of the inside... The roof lifts off, to get inside. It was a pre built building from an Iowa State day that I went to years ago. Maybe one of these days I will try again.
