Lop Sided....But They're Supposed to Be...

OK. These were the hardest to photograph. This fabric makes everything look lumpy and I don't like it at all. Oh well. It's done now. Chances are, people are just going to walk by and not notice any of these. They are for my own amusement anyway.

I put these together just like the others. The shade glued to the back, then the inner curtains glued over that. Last was the four pieces that make up the uneven draperies.

The Victorians made these draperies from plain, not patterned, fabric....I can now see why. They would make me dizzy in a real setting....Please no comments on the side about me being dizzy already...! One more set to go....You will have to wait to see those. I haven't decided on the last set.

I know one thing. Most of these draperies take a taller window than the eight feet given inside these boxes. they would look better on a twelve foot ceiling.

I had to go to Petco for cat food this morning....This is what I came home with(besides cat food).

I went to 22nd St Antiques and found some new goodies to drag home. See the Mason jar that Tessie is climbing out of? All of the earrings scattered around the table were in the jar, before Tessie got a hold of them. They are great for mini parts of all sorts.

I cleared those off of the table and Tessie immediately started going through the other things that I brought home. She tends to lose interest fast if she sees nothing that is to her advantage to claim....I guess that none of the earrings were sparkly enough for her taste.

I also bought a small Christmas box for two dollars...It was filled with sewing travel kits. Not antiques, but handy to have. There were even a couple from England and one from a hotel in Japan.

The basket of gourds was deeply discounted...It's an antique store. They don't get big bucks for dragging in a bucket of gourds.

It looks like there will be some more gourd baskets and pincushions in my future.

That reminds me. I bought some gourd seeds. It's about time to plant them.

My favorite out of the stash was the Italian, hand painted pitcher. I brought it home and immediately filled it with penstemon and lavender from the back yard.

Tessie is holding up the best of the sewing kits...
It is a mending kit for silk stockings and it even had the original "run repair sticks" in the back. See the little heads sticking up above the yellow piece running across the top? You will probably have to enlarge the photo to see the directions.

You moisten the little head and rub it against the silk stockings at the top and bottom of the run and that stops the run.....

I found it interesting that they say that it will only hold until the next washing......Then what do you do??? I guess that's what the silk thread is for...You put a knot in it and sew across the run, maybe?....That would look swell, as they would say back in the age when this was in use...

I am so glad that women don't have to go through that torture anymore. Where did I put my flip flops? I'm with Tessie on this one....Bare feet all the way!

See you tomorrow.

I'm in love with that little jug and those flowers you filled it with are so pretty! Over here, it's just dirty left over mounds of snow and rain and mud! It's raining right now and we had thunder. I can't wait for the flowers to come out! That was an interesting shopping trip!

Lucille, the penstemon are a wild desert flower that just appeared in my yard by itself. They get to about 4' tall and 2 1/2' across. Not bad for a wild desert plant. The pink flowers will last a couple of months if I keep them watered. The lavender, I had to plant. We are supposed to go back to cooler weather Monday. For now, it's 81 degrees at 6:51 PM. and sunny.

I love that stocking run-fixer thingy! That's so cool! : )

And I'm really digging the look of the lopsided curtain. I'm not sure if my little house is fancy enough for it! It's sort of a hodgepodge. But it looks amazing.
