You Can Have Her For A Week...

I am being rented out. I overheard Tessie and Zar talking.....Under the bed....

Zar: You told me that I could have the trailer that Kathi sent. If I get the trailer, that means I have to have help, fixing it up. They were talking about the Greenleaf that Kathi of Beautiful Mini Blessings http://beautifulminiblessings.blogspot.com/ sent me a few months ago.

Tessie: I didn't agree to that.

Zar: Come on, Tessie! I need a place to hang out. The Clockwork cottage will take months...

Tessie: She can't work on that until she finishes the townhouse! OK....Here's the deal. You can have her for a week. Pay me five bucks and she's yours. Then I get her back!!!

That was when I should have stepped in. Instead, I went to the kitchen and made breakfast and coffee.

After breakfast, I scrounged up the courage to go back and see what was going on. They had all of the pieces for the mobile home scattered across the bed.

No marking the parts. They just ripped into everything and started unpacking parts. Zar punched out the blank for the door and disappeared. When he came back, he had a drawing of the outside door of the trailer.

He also had all of the supplies that I needed to do it....Darn. I thought this was a do-it-yourself project. No....It was a do-it-Casey project.

It took me a while to do. I had to cut a circle out of the blank to put a window in place. It is more of a porthole than a window.

He found a really old amber button and wanted to use that for the glass. It took a while to get it just right, but after some trial and error, I got it to fit.

I stained the door with one of those stain pens. I also stained some 1/2" scale chair rail and did the edges with that. The black frame around the window is card stock and the gold is gold sticky paper that I got at one of the mini shows.

The bottom panel is done with black corrugated card. There are some jewelry findings, watch parts and an antique gold slide for the door handle.

I am seeing a few hints of problems ahead, in the next week. Tessie has already started in with the "Why don't I have a door like that?" kind of questions.

I held it up in front of the bathroom light, so that you could see what it really looks like when the light is behind the glass....Actually, I wouldn't mind having a door like that myself....

This is just a hint of the style for the trailer....If I only have a week, I had better get back to work right away.

See you tomorrow.

It's not just the renting out that's a bit insulting it's the cheap price that I'd be most offended by if I were you!!

Please tell me about the stain pens, they sound intriguing, is this a hardware store buy or do you find them at an art store?

And thanks for your commiserations at the demise of my disintegrated cabinet. I don't know exactly the state of the paint work on the chest of drawers, it may just need a good scrubbing and some new handles.

A porta está incrível. Parabéns pela criatividade e delicadesa na execução da miniatura. :)

Norma, The stain pens are made by Minwax. I get them in several colors at our Walmart store. Most of the home stores here carry them too. I will be talking more about them in the next few days. Stay tuned.

As usual, your magic fingers work quickly, Casey! Love that door, it's a classic.

Better stock up on coffee...you aren't going to get much sleep this week.

With a door like that the trailer is going to have a hard act to follow. I know you are up to it, with Zar providing ideas and inspiration, of course.
