As usual, Monday is for cleaning up after the weekend. The laundry is almost done and the bathrooms are clean, so I decided to take a break.
I just realized that I have never shown you just how awful the calendar wood siding looks when it is first applied. I also never showed you them method to my madness....
You know by now that I take the easy way when I can. That goes for putting on siding too.
I do the same thing with this that I do with the wood blind slats for floors. I put stripes of glue on the surface that I want to cover with siding and then just lay the strips, in this case, side by side on the prepared surface. I lay on three or more strips and trim them with scissors as I go.
I have a pair of Fiskars that are used for cutting wood and believe it or not, they seem to stay sharp. Once in a while I run a Fiskars sharpener over the blades, but not very often.
Paint covers a multitude of sins and corner molding does the rest.
I finished all of the siding this morning. Now I get to do the fun stuff.
Oh, one last thing. I have used the calendars for clapboard siding a number of times on 1/2" buildings. It works quite well for that.
Tessie refuses to help with the real world jobs. I am on my own. I don't think it is really fair. I help with hers!
I guess I will go back to the big stuff all by myself for now. Bah Humbug!
See you tomorrow.

It is growing so sweet. A real Baba Yaga home. Can you add chicken feet to it like in he old fairy tale?Minihugs Rosanna
Rosanna, I thought about it, but I don't think that I am going to do the chicken feet....It's a matter of balance. If someone accidentally bumped it, all would be lost!
Really Pretty!
-Kim :)
Too bad:o( I'm sure you could do it, you can do everything.
But gravity force is, may be, too much even for Tessie. Hugs to you both, Rosanna
I'm so lovin' that cottage. That trim is just so sweet!
My Hagrid is a little bit like Tessie... won't help around the house. Oh, how I wish I could train him to make coffee and bring it to me in the morning. Oh well...
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! I had a great day, and yes- those cakepops are just as yummy as they look!
Hugs,
Jill
You are making some good progress. I like the look of the calendar wood. I need to find some of those. I need thin siding for my dollhouse.
I think it's a lovely home, one question *is tessie ever going to wear shoes?*
Love
Marisa
Marisa, the answer to your question is NO! LOL She hates shoes. She owns them, but never puts them on.
What the heck is calendar wood???
Love the profile of this building Casey, and the colour is gorgeous.
Norma, calendar wood is the slats from the Japanese calendars printed on very thin wood. They were very popular here in the 80s. Now they seem to be made of heavy paper if you find them at all. I get them in thrift shops when I see them.
