My friend Jo is one of the bravest women that I know. When her daughter had her twelfth or thirteenth birthday(I can't remember which) Jo threw her a tie dye tee shirt party. Each girl got to tie dye her own shirt. You would think that she would never want to hear those words again, let alone write them.
I was searching for things 60s and Jo wrote and said that Tessie had to have a tie dyed tee with the peace symbol on the front......Great Idea Jo....Then she said that Tessie needed bell bottom Levis to go with it....OK. Sounds like a good idea to me.
I got out a bunch of Sharpie pens. I seem to have bought almost every color known to mankind.
I didn't have any white tee shirt material and I didn't think that Walter would appreciate having one of his go missing, so I went and hunted down some lightweight cotton.
The first try was not wonderful. I laid down the colors and then realized that the peace sign was not going to stand out.
The second one, I put the peace sign in first. Then I just started scribbling in circles to get the tie dyed effect.
I used the same turquoise Sharpie and scribbled a piece for the back and two smaller ones for the sleeves. I let them dry whilst I made Levis.
I didn't wear that pair much anyway....
With a bit of sewing and lots of gluing, Tessie had her Bell bottoms and tie dye tee.
I cut all of the pieces right on Tessie so there isn't a pattern.
You could do the pants with any pattern, simply flaring the bottoms from the knee out.
The shirt is basically four rectangles. Two are the same size for the body front and back. Two are smaller for the sleeves. I glued the sleeves on, making sure that they extended up over the shoulder. Then I glued on the back, folding in the sleeve area to fit over the sleeve. I wrapped the sides around to the front.
Last I turned under edges on the front and glued that in place.
Almost instant Hippie clothes. Tessie likes them because she is still not required to put on shoes.
She has taken up playing the electric guitar and is attempting to learn all of the Stones early work.....Does anybody have an extra set of ear plugs that they aren't using? I need them NOW! Please have mercy!!!
See you tomorrow.

Glad Tessie likes them! Sorry for you have to listen to her playing Stones!:)
I love it. My mom carved a wooden marionette based on one of my cartoon characters called hippy chick. She used the same sharpie marker technique for the shirt. She embroidered lots of little butterflies and flowers on the blue jeans. I'll have to find a picture of her.
Far out! Some love beads and a bong and she's all set! (Sorry ... :)
LOL. I already have her in love beads. Jo reminded me that she needs a different hair ornament and no bong! She is crazy enough without the grass! I don't want to give her any ideas.....
Very modern Hippy Miss hahaha!!!!
That is so neat casey!
OMG, I'm lovin' Tessie's groovy new look! I know shoes are not necessary, but wouldn't a tiny little pair of Birkenstock's look great with her new hippie ensemble?!
Hugs,
Jill
Jill, she is holding out for "White Go Go Boots and a Mini Skirt.....First she has to get the legs for that outfit.....
Tessie as a hippy - I love it!
I like Tessie's new look.

That is so cool. It is funny to see Tessie in something besides a dress and apron. I woonder how long it will take for her to say that the clothes are too restrictive...or maybe so will end up loving them and you will have to start a whole new wardrobe for her. What does Zar think is he ready to go hippy also.?
Glad Tessie is into the Stone's dont forget a star for her cheek!
Ha,ha Tessie.... wonderful
Liebe Grüße PuNo/Monika
Hmmm, I bought some bongs on Ebay last year! I think they came from Mainly Mini's! If Tessie has the urge, let me know and I'll send you one! LOL!!! Love the shirt and bell Bottoms!
