Psychedelic Workroom Ceiling.....

Yesterday at the mini meeting I did the boring stuff. I painted doors and molding light ivory....There is a bunch of molding in this house. The meeting was fun. The painting, not so much. I probably will have to paint more baseboard still.

Yesterday morning Tessie came in with some of her favorite material and announced, "This is going to be the ceiling in my workroom and we are going to run it down the side of the walls part way, so that I don't have to lie on the floor to look up at it."

Good thinking on Tessie's part. Two of the walls in the work room are slanted in about a fifteen degree angle. I really wasn't looking forward to cutting crown molding for that.

I got to work and measured and trimmed strips of the fabric to fit around the top of the room. Then on one edge, I trimmed it around the contours of the circles.

When I finished that, I painted the backside of the contoured edge with white glue, let it dry and trimmed again.

I had already painted the walls Midnight Blue to match the hallway, so I could just coat the back of the fabric with watered down white glue and lay it in place.

I did that part before I left for the witch's mini meeting. This morning, with a small brush, I edged the trim with gold. You would think that I had learned by now. Never leave Tessie alone in a room with an open bottle of gold paint......And a wand(AKA toothpick). This is what happens.

She decided that it needed a little something extra. She wouldn't admit that she dipped the wand in the paint. She kept insisting, "I simply waved the wand and the dots appeared. Magic....Honest."

As you can see, I haven't done the actual ceiling yet. I am going to make that a false ceiling so that I can add a light. Tessie insists that it needs a chandelier....I am wondering how she is going to get any potions made in a workroom that is so distracting. I may just sneak in later and paint over the "vine like" dots with blue...The alternative is lots of shelves in front of them. We shall see what happens.

Back to work. Ceiling and floor come next.

See you tomorrow.

Thanks all of you. Having fabric as an option for wallpaper really expands what you can do and it is much easier to use than paper.

Casey I LOVE it, the dots just add to the magic of the room! I never would have thought to use fabric as a border...it looks amazing!!! Well chosen Tessie! =D

Deborah, I not only use it for borders. It was one of the first things I learned to use as wallpaper, in general. It is really easy to work with and you can apply it with regular Elmer's glue, watered down a bit.Smooths on nicely and lasts forever. One of my first room boxes is "papered" in fabric and is still looks like new 25 years later.

Forgot to say, if you are going to use it for whole walls, it is easier to paint the wall with the glue and lay the fabric over it and smooth it out.
