At the Vertical Limit....

Unless Tessie decides to add a weather vane to the top of the tower, we are as high as we are going to go with the townhouse as of a few minutes ago.

The first thing I did this morning was add the floors of the bay section of the front. I am not going into great detail because each house is different. I am simply following the directions for this particular house.

I must say that RGT writes great directions! Very easy to follow and very logical if you carefully follow them step by step. The house is going together quite fast.

Tessie, of course, questioned the divider in the middle of the second floor. It was used to brace the spaces between the floors of the bay while the glue dried.

You do have to use a LOT of blue painter's tape to hold everything in place on this one, but it is so precisely cut that there is not a crack anywhere when the glue dries.

Again, on the third floor(attic) I was directed to use one of the dividers to space the main wall correctly. Again, Tessie complained that the wall was all wrong. "Move it! Move it now!" was all she would say.

After the glue dries on the main wall I will. Until then, she will just have to sputter.

As you can see, I temporarily had to put the bay in with tape. The left side and the center of the bay will swing out when I am finished.

Next came the Mansard roof on the third floor. They call it an attic. I am calling it a workroom for Tessie.

It is so nice to have all of the corners mitered so that they fit well. Just a little sanding on the rough edges is all that is needed.

Basically, with the addition of the tower top, the shell is finished!

I weighted the roof top to get a good seal on the joints. Then added the tower top last.

Before I did either the roof or the tower, I drew the lines for the shingles that were provided. I am still debating whether to use those or some smaller ones that I have. I will leave that decision until shingling time.

As I said, I am following their directions. I am now wondering why they do the base last? I think that Walter is going to be very handy for this step. I have to lift the house onto the base and glue it in place....Last???

Zar discovered the house this morning. I can't say that Tessie is being a very good sport. She is having a wonderful time gloating.

"MY house is going to be bigger and better than yours, Zar." And then "Obviously, Casey likes me best. Mine is going to be finished first.".

Her head has grown three sizes since I started this house just yesterday.....We are going to have to do something about that. I was going to do a roof garden, with a potting shed in the tower.....If she keeps it up, it may still be a good place for a torture chamber......
