The building was a combination of two small house kits that I had. I cut the top off of one and stacked the other one on top. It worked out pretty well. I half timbered it with the slats from one of those wooden blinds from the 80s that were strung together with fancy nubby yarns. Everybody had them back then. Then they all started showing up in thrift shops. What a source for already finished wood. And the nice part was that the slats could be cut with scissors.
As you can see, the witch to the left of the photo is a pretty good flyer but not great at hitting the landing platform. That's what she is hanging onto for dear life. Her broom is broken on the ground below.
This is an overall view of the outside. The table that it is sitting on is a cut of a redwood log. It weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 pounds. I can just barely scoot it around on the floor by pushing hard.I cut the foundation of the building with my handy dandy Dremel jigsaw.
Again I used the wood from the blinds on the inside for a rough sawn look to all of the woodwork.
I made most of the stuff inside.
The bottom floor is the general store for supplies.
The second story is fortune telling and transportation. There is a gypsy waiting with Tarot cards. There is also a flying carpet demonstrating its skills and various other carpets, brooms and even a vacuum for the modern witch that wants more flying power.
The third floor is living quarters and the spinning room. The little old lady up there is spinning straw into gold.
This is Esmerlda. She is the owner of the store. She is just a bit dishonest. Some of the money goes into the till and some into the little leather bag that she has hanging from her waist. Some is tax free that way. The king has enough money already, to her way of thinking.
Her leather hat is the worse for wear and needs to be replaced but she likes it the way it is. She keeps her hair in place with spiders. Note the one on the front. They really aren't very well trained.
Tomorrow we will take a tour of the rest of the warehouse upclose and personal.
See you then!
