This Could Take a While!

You will probably have to click the photos and enlarge to see all of the dirt and grime.....Ick. Maybe you had better not...

I decided to do my favorite room first. The rooms sit back in the castle so I can at least do preliminary cleaning wherever I want.

This is after oiling the floor with lemon oil.  That stuff does wonders!

I had forgotten how much inlay I did around the edge of the floor in this room.

The floor of the fireplace was a piece of illustration board that I painted to look like marble.

I won't keep repeating myself through this cleaning, but I did just about everything(furniture, fabric and structural)myself.  Some of the accessories like the fireplace tools and dishes were purchased. Oh! And I also did the food.

I put stuff back and took photos to see what has to be done... It is much easier to see where the problems are when you are photographing than with the naked eye.

I know that I need to do a new table cloth.  This one has glue spots.  and looks dirty between them.

One of the chairs needs a new bow on one side. Wish me luck on finding some ribbon that matches... It has been fading for a long time.
Of course when Tessie heard me working from the room next door, she decided to invade.

She took one look at the beast and went "Ick!".  You mean I have to like him to get this room... "I don't think so! He's all hairy and wears strange clothes... She has never seen a smoking jacket before.  There aren't a lot of them around these days.

Then she nudged Beauty out of the way and looked him straight in the eye, and said, "Maybe you wouldn't be so bad if you shaved and found some decent clothes. Just maybe..."He didn't hear a word that she said. The lights aren't on yet.

It does look like I am going to have a lot of work to do to get this castle habitable.  Wish me luck! I'm going to need it!

See you tomorrow.

Mucho trabajo de limpieza, pero esa maravilla de castillo tiene que estar reluciente!

Hello Casey,
It always amazes me how much dust gathers between cleanings. The room is a beautiful one, but I must say I really love the floor most of all.
Big hug

Thanks Giac, coming from you, that's a real compliment. You are the maker of beautiful floors!

Anisnofla, I feel like I am going back to work. I restored minis for the Mini Time Machine Museum for several years. That was before the museum was even built!
