Every edge on the chair will have braid on it. Edge of the seat. Edge of the bonnet. Edge of the bottom. Edge of the arms... and a smaller braid around the padded parts. The feet will have to be wound into balls.
And then I will have to make a seat cushion. This thing is very time consuming.
I think that it will have to have tassels hanging from the coils at the end of the arms, too. Tessie said so!
There will be more shaping along the way, but you get the general idea.
The color of this one is hard to capture on film. It is really more of a camel color. After I finish, I will try to get a better photo.
Anyway, I have to get back to work. I want this finished by tomorrow. I am going to be braiding in my sleep, if I am not careful.

Not really exotic, but still lovely! Will the seat cushion be made of the same fabric?
And surely you'll need braid for the footstool, too...

Most definitely a peacock chair. But rather than a full fan spread it is the shape of the individual feather with color in the center. I like it very much.
Once upon a time I spent a few months doing wicker repair in a shop that had a warehouse full of the authentic Victorian pieces.
