This may not be the finished product, but I couldn't wait to see what I could do with the opal.
I don't think it is too bad for the first try... I still may try again. I did this freehand. No sketch.. Maybe a couple of sketches wouldn't hurt.
My other project for the day was this... I had all of my thread in a big box under the bed in the computer room.
Not easy to get to and Hard to see what I had.
I remembered that I had some thread holders in the garage. I never used them for thread. I had beads on the end of them and used to display hats and such on them at shows.
I got them on sale for two bucks a piece at Walmart, years ago. When I was at Walmart this morning, I noticed that they still have them at the normal price. $9.97 each!
I'm sure glad that they were going to close them out at one point..
I never intended to use them as thread holders because they had the posts at the front of the photo attached to either side and were meant to set on a table... No room for that here.
When I saw them this morning, something clicked.
I came home and took off the legs. Simply by unscrewing one screw. Easy!
Then I drilled a hole at either top corner of the frame and used some old copper wire to make a hanger by running it from one side to the other.
I am now the happy owner of wall hanging thread racks. This is the first one and I think that one more will put the rest of the thread on the wall.
Those are my big projects for the day. For the rest of the day I am going to go work on the Russian rug.
See you tomorrow.
