I Have a Bit of Explaining to do...

Lucille asked if I had an explanation of the stabilizing strips anywhere on the blog.  I realized that I didn't.

I don't do this unless the curtains are extra long and will hang straight up and down... And aren't attached to any walls, except at the ends.
I first secure them with blue painter's tape on the front.  Then I pull out all of the pins and flip them over.

I cut(or tear) 1/2" strips of the same material... I used contrasting here, because it won't show and it is easier to see.

I glue those to the back and let them dry.

Then I put them in place, gluing both edges to the wall.

I am still contemplating the color on the chest.  I am kind of liking the yellow more than I did yesterday.  I am afraid that, if I change the color it will fade into the background.

Tessie approves.  She already raided the townhouse and my printer's tray to fill the holes.

I really have to get the white spots on those trees covered and I need to do the rest of the stones.  Especially the spot in the middle where someone spilled rust colored paint and tried to wipe it up, so that I wouldn't see...  It wasn't me!

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.

Oh thank goodness. I'm not losing my mind about the stabilizing strips. I even went back through the blog to see what I was missing because I'm about to use your method to do my curtains. I always like your method best because they hang like real curtains instead of doing that poofing out thing at the bottom.

Hi Casey,
Thanks for posting your tips for the "stabilizing strips." It's a great technique that I've never thought to try. I also like the yellow paint on the chest; it blends with the curtain without being a perfect match. But the chest is such an interesting piece that it will add "zing" to that corner whatever the color!

Thanks, Casey, for that tutorial. I just could not visualize what you meant. I see Tessie is making plans for the cabinet. Can't wait to see what she does with it.
