Steaming Things Up!

Last night, I took a break from the telescope.  Instead, I Steampunked a regular sized box.

This was a plain, hinged, wooden box when I started.  I did some cheater's cartonnage.  That is, I didn't build the box.  I just covered it.

This is the fabric left over from Zar's bed in the Clockwork cottage.

The button is one that I have had for years.  Solid brass and very heavy.  I think it's the largest button and heaviest that I have ever owned.  Not to practical for clothing, but not bad for the top of the box.
Anyway, this morning I got into problem solving again.  The telescope now stands on it's own.  No tipping over and it's not glued to the plate.

I ran a dowel down through the base and up into the body of the telescope base.  It was still a bit wobbly.  Then I thought to use the ring on the side to run another dowel.  That is on the opposite side from the tipping.

I am happy to say that it worked!

I still have some things to add on, but the telescope is mainly finished.

Now if Daisy arrives home, she has nothing to complain about.  One project down and another one half way done...

On top of everything else, Zar seems to like it.  If he does, I imagine that Daisy will too.

I can't wait to get this finished and start on something new.

Either "Zar's Bizarre Bazaar" or the new Vineyard Cottage...Or I might even consider finishing something else that has been left to sit on a shelf.  Who knows?

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.
