A Postcard From Daisy...

We got a postcard from Daisy, yesterday...

This is what the front of it looked like.  And the back said..."If you are going to do the bedroom and bath as per my directions, you may as well finish the job.  I know that this kitchen won't fit in the space, but do what you can. Not necessarily the same colors. And please leave the tree outside!

Also, while you are at it, make the whole house North African on the inside.  I am collecting pieces as fast as I can... HURRY UP!!!  Love, Daisy.".

I think that the hot desert climate has gotten to her.  She keeps changing her mind.  And the Terrible Two, plus one, go along for the ride. They are just plain crazy...
As soon as they got the post, they started making plans..

First get rid of the wallpaper...That's ok.  I never liked it much anyway.  But now they seem to think that the whole kitchen should take a turn towards North Africa and they want it somewhat like the photo.

I made the mistake of telling them to have at it before I went to bed...

They had at it!  While I slept in the same room, they managed to whitewash all of the walls with a can of my gesso.

When I arose this morning, they were lounging around, admiring their handy work and waiting for me to do the rest... Why do I always get the hard part?

Now I have to build cabinets, a stove.... I imagine I will have to build in a fridge that looks like the rest of the room too...

Here we go again. At least the floor is still acceptable.

See you tomorrow.

Hello Casey,
that's a big change...but I must admit the postcard is gorgeous and if anyone can make it come to life it is you. Have fun.
Big hug,
Giac

Casey, yesterday I forgot to mention how much I love that mixture of vibrant colours together, turquoise, green, purple and brown! They make such an unusual combination! A very interesting kitchen! I'm starting to feel a bit stronger and yesterday I was able to clean my bedroom. I slept like a baby!

A beloved, elderly relative, who passed on at 100 in 1995, had a houseful of things picked up during her world travels in the 1920s and 30s. She built a house using the teak from the shipping boxes used when she moved back to the US in the 30s. She even lived through the 1906 San Francisco earthquake as a child. She was as unique as Daisy seems to be. How talented you are to be able to bring Daisy to such vivid life!

Hi Casey! It will be fascinating to see if you will be able to sneak some of the north African theme into your little kitchen.

Isn't it interesting at how the house itself, begins to take over and dictate the direction it wishes to go? And then of course, you have Tessie and Zar providing input too! :))
