Frog-ing Wicker....

No, I am not weaving frogs.  It is a needlework term. Rip it! Rip it! Rip it!  The frogging is on the left...Amazing.  It took me a couple of hours to weave it and only a couple of minutes to Ribbit it.

Then I started over with the #20 thread that I should have used in the beginning.

When I started once more, I had already decided on no hamper....Just an open basket.  Great minds think alike.
I got all kinds of comments and all said that it should be open.

The pattern is about the same.  Just more rows between the looped areas.

When I finished part of the basket, I decided that it should be very messy and with things spilling out.  A straight sided basket wouldn't work.

So I shaped the wires as I worked upwards and came up with a sort of wavy scalloped front.

When I finished the weaving, I edged it with braided thread and a chain stitch crochet thread to fill in the gaps between basket and braid.
As you can see, as soon as I started filling the basket, I got company.  First Widget had to smell. No food, so he left.

Then, Tessie had to dig.  She wanted to make sure that I didn't put anything in there that was of interest to her....The beads and the silk are now missing...

I guess I should go retrieve them  before she has a chance to hid them.

See you tomorrow.

You are so good to actually undo your basket and start again. I love version 2 with its ruffled edge and colouring.

A gorgeous basket, very, very special! To hear you explain how you did it, you make it sound so simple but I know that it's not. I love the picture of your cat, I can't remember it's name right now, and the pic of our Tessie sneaking a look as she always does.

Hi Casey! Now your Talkin! This basket is absolutely Right for this vignette! The scale is visually correct and the shape is wonderful and makes the basket more interesting to look at and yet does not take away from the other features of your scene! "One step behind" are we? hmmm? What a 'teaser' you are!
