Real Life in Arizona...

This morning we went out to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum with April and Amare. This is theview from one of the lookout towers.  We live about 30 minutes to the left of the photo...This kind of view is why we love Tucson...Amare was out of his stroller and walked most of the paths that we covered and some of them he went up and down a couple of times if they were on a slant.

He was still running at the end....Even when the rest of us were kind of dragging along behind.
I got a lot of photos, but I only included a few that I have seen in the wild.

Yup.  That's a rattlesnake.  Isn't he cute?

See the track at the front of the photo?  That's where he has been...He's a sidewinder.
OK...You don't like snakes.  How about something cute and fuzzy.  I could only catch the tarantula going the other way.  Sorry about that.  He really is cute if he is facing you.
I did manage to find a miniature scene in the bug room.  The Blue Death Feigning Beetles have their very own cemetery.  You can see them in the corners and the middle of the front edge.  They pretend to be dead so that other creatures won't kill them....I guess they are pretty smart...Although you couldn't prove it by me that they aren't really dead...
And of course a blog on Arizona wouldn't be complete without a roadrunner.  A second after I clicked this photo he was gone.  Literally.  He is very fast.  You know....Like the one in the cartoon...Beep, Beep!  I was really fortunate to get the shot.

Last, but not least, we have have an example of the Witchus-Irritatus...  No...She didn't get to go with us.  So she is pouting and pretending to be busy crocheting....I got the afghan that far along before we left, but she would have you think that she did all the work.  That's one of the habits of her particular species...Prevaricating the truth...

I am going now to work on the afghan or...take a nap.  It was a long walk...

See you tomorrow

A cute picture of Amare! It looks warm out there compared to what it is here. The wind is howling! The afghan is very nice!

It is neat to see a picture of a real roadrunner, quite different from the cartoon. The afghan is looking great.

Amare is adorable and the only reason I would come to Arizona with all of those scary creatures. LOL

Hello Casey, I will not comment about the snake and spider because the roadrunner was cute and made up for it! I am happy you had a lovely day. Just make sure she does not undo any stitches...
Big hug,
Giac

it looks like you had a great nature walk but if I had seen that snake the nature walk would have been over snakes just freak me out.

I should have specified. All of the dangerous ones were behind glass. When I saw them in the wild, I made a careful retreat! We have had tarantulas in our back yard a couple of times. They aren't dangerous. They just look scary if you don't like spiders.

Love these photos! I was only about 9 years old when we came through the Arizona desert on our way from Houston to San Fransisco. Never saw any snakes or tarantulas, but lots of road runners. It is such a special place!

The afghan is coming along nicely!

I don't like spiders or snakes! Great shot of the little road runner. I have never seen a "real" one before. :D

What a beautiful view! I live in the mountains of Tennessee, which I believe are beautiful too, but I am always drawn to long flat views of the horizon. I have yet to see it myself (other than at the ocean) so I really enjoy the picture!
