Spit and Polish....

Actually, it should be oil and polish.  I finished laying the top floor of the weaver's cottage this morning.  After I did that, I sanded all of the floors down and rubbed a bit of extra stain back in where there were some high spots.

Considering the materials, they turned out well.

I got out the Warren Dick Loom to see how it looked in the room.  Since I had the lemon oil out for the floor, I took a soft brush and oiled the loom also.

I am a firm believer in lemon oil to nourish miniature wooden pieces that aren't varnished.  It is amazing what it does for thirsty wood.  I don't know if you can tell by the photos, but the loom is about three shades darker than it was and looks a whole lot healthier.

I don't think that we have to worry about Zar taking over the weaving....His head just doesn't fit beneath the cross bar on the back of the loom.

I tried the loom in the window recess and decided it just wouldn't do.  I couldn't see the beautiful details of the loom's working parts.

So it is now officially going sideways in the room.

I took a couple of pieces from the colonial kitchen and replaced them with others.

The Windsor writing chair and bench are hand carved pieces that I got at a show a few years back.  There is no signature on them...Only three initials.  I do wish that people would sign such nice pieces with a full name and a date.  It seems like I remember this guy being from somewhere in the south and his work is outstanding.  Unfortunately, I am not even sure what the initials are.

The bottom floor is, as yet, unfurnished except for Zar's work bench.  He is still lobbying for a woodworker's shop down there.

At least, now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  It's very dim, but I can see it.

I got up at four this morning, so I am already four hours into my day.  Since I still have a lot of daylight to go, I guess I shall get back to work.

See you tomorrow.
