Nellie woke me up at 3:30 this morning. She was throwing things around and generally raising the roof. Don't ask about the language that she was using....It was a mixture of French and English and not at all nice French and English...
She wanted the clothes finished so that she could be presentable to the world...I guess it had to be done. I finished the top layer.
We went with a homespun French blue for the skirt and dyed blue suede for the vest. Working girl clothes...Er, maybe I should say Embroiderer's clothes. Nothing fancy on the outside. At least not in Tudor eyes.
I am going to have to do a bit of pressing with the mini iron. With the two layers of fabric under it, there is a decided bow in the front sides.
The fun part was the vest. I used the same pattern(see Zar's vest pattern under clothes) and added a bit of length to the front. I also added flaps on the shoulders, which I slashed and trimmed to points all around.
I will get some better photos tomorrow. Hopefully it will be sunny and better light for photos.
I may add a bit more trim, but as it is, I like it fine. I don't want to go overboard. After all, she is just a working girl....

Hi Casey. Hurrah! Nellie has a finished costume! It is very attractive and seemingly appropriate for a working girl in Tudor times.
On another topic, I dropped an inexpensive clear wine goblet on the kitchen floor and it shattered into a thousand pieces.Immediately I think "What can I use these pieces for in miniature?" I set aside a few 1 to 1 1/2 inch pieces
to use for serving dishes.I would lightly sand the edges. Do you have any suggestions for the tiny pieces? If I need more pieces, Dollar Tree has more glasses.

Nellie's lovely, with a softened appearance now. I love her hairdo especially. She was too stern in countanence before.
The embroidery is beautiful. I guess working girls don't usually get to wear the glam stuff, but her embroidered stomacher and sleeves advertise her work nicely! I throughly love your new family member, Casey! Great Job!
Hm..any new gentlemen in the works yet? Zar needs some competition soon or he's going to become either spoiled rotten, or henpecked to death..not sure which, LOL!
Phylissa, about the only thing I can think of off hand is crushed ice?LOL I am afraid that is one thing that I don't try to save. I have very bad luck with broken glass.LOL
Hi Casey.Thanks for your suggestion of using broken glass pieces for ice.I found a perfume top, filled it with "ice" and now have a wine cooler for The Garden Room restaurant.
On close examination, some of the
tiny pieces look like crystal pieces for a ladies pendant. So that's my next project. I won't save the rest of the glass unless I can use it in another project.
