Now You See Me.....Now You Don't....

This morning I worked on the glass top to the tower again...I tore off all of the lead tape and started over. I wasn't happy with how it looked.

I cut four pieces of wood to fit and glued them in place on the sides. Then I filled in between them with a random patten. The Chinese make screens and windows with this kind of pattern and they call it "broken ice". It's a very apt name.

I tried it on top of the tower. Zar immediately vetoed it. Too see through!

Tessie kept pounding on the glass and yelling, "I can see you!" That didn't help.

Next, I painted the glass with clear nail polish...As you can see, Zar was still visible and Tessie was still helping out....Yelling, "I can STILL see you!!!" Big help!

I went and got a big box of Sharpies in lots of colors and took to painting the inside of each section with various colors.

That seemed to do the trick.

Tessie is now shouting, "Where's Zar?" I think that she has read one to many "Where's Waldo?" books.

I know that she could still see him. I could.

The cap that is on the top now is a piece of gold self stick paper in the shape of a fan. It worked perfectly. It was exactly the size and shape to cover the tops of the boards and overlap just a smidgen.

Now all I have to do is decide how I am going to attach it. If I trim of just a little of the bottom, it will sit comfortably inside the ring of the top. Wish me luck.

I am going to go push Tessie off the roof to stop her yelling. Then I am going back to work!

See you tomorrow.

I'm impressed. I've tried to guess where this was heading as it was evolving and never pictured this. Looks great!

Now, that was a surprise! Didn't expect to see an all together new "look." I was enjoying myself, admiring the clear glass when I scrolled down to find the colored glass. Wow! Another surprise. Well, at least Tessie won't be able to say, "I see you!" Ha. Ha.

I love your work. I think it's good you're not satisfied with your ideas quickly, so we can have fun with your tests. : D
