This week, until next Sunday, I will be going over to April's every morning to feed the cat and chickens. She and Seth went to a family reunion....Neither one of their families. They have a close friend that used to rent the apartment in back of their house. She has now moved back home. She adopted them and they her. Thus, they are part of the family. This is the second one that they have attended. Great fun!
When I got over there yesterday morning, there was a gift awaiting Tessie. She now has a Golden Retriever puppy, thanks to Seth's mom. Thanks Jill!!!
The poor pup had a hole all the way through his middle. He was a zipper pull, with a cord running through the hole.
That was easy to fix. I simply squeezed a bit of silicone sealer into it. When it is dry, I will touch it up with paint. No problem.
Anyway, the point is keep an eye out. Minis are everywhere.
On the way home, I stopped at Dollar Tree and hit the jackpot for the day. They had a box of 1,000 toothpicks(very nicely finished) for a dollar, and bamboo place mats that are also very well sanded and a great size for mini floors. I am going to have to experiment with them a bit. They have a gauze backing on them. I am not sure if it is glued on or just sewn on at the edges. They had three colors of these and some wider slatted ones that were various shades of brown in one mat. I may go back for those later in the week.
I had to laugh. This is Dollar Tree and EVERYTHING in the store is one dollar, right?...Then why do they have a whole new aisle marked Dollar Day Specials...Yes everything there is a dollar too...
I bought a couple of packages of mini plastic containers. I think that they are meant for food, but I do believe that they will come in handy for storing and sending minis. There were a couple of other shapes. As I said, I may just have to go back.
One more thing. On one of the blogs that I follow this site was featured a few days ago. It's called "Japonizer" http://wanokoto.net/japonizes It has a lot of different traditional Japanese paper designs that can be customized with color and size. I think that it could be of use to mini-makers. I fiddled with it a bit and it is just fun to see what you can do with the color and size changes. I didn't try printing any of it yet. I will let you experiment too. Have fun!
Now I guess that I should go fiddle with minis.
See you tomorrow.

Japonize is such a great site, I'd never been there before. I am having a lot of fun playing with the patterns and sizes. Thank you for sharing it!
Congratulations to Tessie on the new puppy. Puppies need a lot of accessories though, a doghouse and food and water bowls and a leash. Lots of projects for him ahead?

Sarah, I don't think that I have it marked, but there have been things like four poster dog beds and fancy collar collections in frames in earlier entries. I don't think that the new puppy will have any trouble finding accessories here.LOL
LOL.....I have a box of those toothpicks and a bunch of those plastic containers. =) They have some really small ones that I used for brads, eyelets and anything around that size. I used the bigger square and circle ones for storing small stuff and I also used some to send some gifts. Too funny that you posted about it. The only down side for me is that I didn't buy any of them at my local Dollar Trees. They don't have them, so if I'm in a different city or state I try to hunt for them. And just like you I think about buying "too" many and then I regret it. Oh well......lol I have some similar placemats but can't remember where I got them. Dollar Tree or Target.....? IDK, but mine don't have a backing. Sorry for the rambling. I just got really excited when I saw I actually have something someone as creative as you would also actually buy!!! =)
Lataina, I got some of the bamboo placemats that you are talking about at Target. These are new to our Dollar Tree. At least I haven't seen them before. The little hard plastic containers are the ones that I want to go back and purchase. I am thinking that tomorrow they will still have them.
Wish Me luck!
Thanks for the tip, and one more fun post!
Glad that the puppy's operation went well! I will keep a look out for minis on our trip for Tessie.
The placemats I've purchased at Dollar Tree have the backing glued on - very well I might add, lol.
I've found mini pets at JoAnn Fabrics in their dollar bins - they were key rings.
BTW, I love Zar's new trailer.
