Still Waiting....

We heard from the vet yesterday afternoon. Mookie is doing better. He is eating and drinking on his own. If he keeps it up, he will get to come home later today. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, I started cleaning kitchen cupboards, until I got bored.

Then I decided that I would make a few drawer organizers for my room. It's one of those "Use it up" projects.

You can make them any size you want if you want to measure and cut every angle or you can take the lazy way out. I prefer the latter.

I bought a box of frosted bite-sized shredded wheat this morning. I emptied the contents into a storage container.

I took my T square and measured up from the bottom of the box to 2" and 4". Then I cut down the corners of the box to the bottom.

I scored the 2" line and folded it in towards the center.

Next I grabbed the nearest tape. It happened to be white ducky tape. It could have been wide masking tape, but I didn't feel like hunting for that.

I taped the folded edges to the bottom of the box, making sure that it would still fold into box shape.

The next part could be done with spray glue, but I had a bunch of Wonder Under iron on fabric webbing, so I used that. Much less messy than glue.

First I put the lining fabric in place and turned the top edges around to the outside and pressed.
I trimmed out the corners so that the fabric would butt when the corners were closed.
Next I ironed on the outside fabric and trim all four top edges.

I cut across the corners even with the top edges. Then I cut down the narrow end edges to the bottom, leaving a triangular flap on the long edges.

Then I pulled the corners up to meet and Ironed the flaps to the end to hold it all together.

I did a last bit of trimming with a pair of scissors.

Tessie immediately jumped in and tried to get Spike to get in with her.....Then she looked me straight in the face and said....."I think that you are going to need about 329 more of these if you want the workroom to be in order. Eat more cereal!"

The sad part is.....She's right.....See you tomorrow.

P. S. I just got a call from the vet. Mookie will be ready to come home about 4. It seems that he made a disaster area of the cage that they put him in last night! Yup. Sounds like he is back to normal.....

You must have been very anxious about Mookie to engage in a displacement activity involving old cereal boxes :-). But Tess is no doubt correct about not having nearly enough of them!

Glad to here he'll be home today!

Great news about Mookie! I'm sure he'd like a nice fabric covered box to sleep in when he gets home...

I won't go into details. We got Mookie home, but he is still one sick kitty. He is on pain meds, thyroid pills and another course of pills to stimulate his appetite. It's going to be a while before he gets back to normal....He did get revenge. He bit one of the guys that works there!LOL Just a little bite, but revenge.
