With Tessie looking over my shoulder, it was difficult. There were 40 pages of sofas alone. Decisions. Decisions....
I grabbed a few photos and printed them all on one sheet. All but the basket chair came from that site.
The basket chair, I have had for a while. I think it came from that 60s Flickr group.
Tessie went crazy for that. She loves little nests. For that matter, so do I. I would love to own that particular chair.....Since it will never happen, I decided to humor her and make one in mini. I will whip one up in.....maybe a month, if I'm lucky. No pattern. By guess and by gosh. Flying by the seat of my pants and all of the other cliches.
This is the page I printed. We have not completely decided which ones will be "it" yet. I do like the Noguchi sofa and bench in the photo on the top right of the page.
Here's a close up. I do wish I could find a photo of the back so that I could see how it is attached to the seat. Other than that, I found the measurments for it and the bench on one of the sites. That's another one of those pieces that was first designed in the late forties and is still in production.
Now about the chair. I have been working on it for a couple of hours now.....I started with 17 spokes in the bottom. as I went outward, I added more....I am up to 49 now and I may still have to add a few more before I get to the side and start going upwards....
As I said at the beginning, pull up a chair and get comfy....."This could take a while......Tessie! Go fetch me a cup of coffee. I"m going to need it!"
See you tomorrow.

Take 'poetic licence' and do your own thing with the seats. I would use wooden L-shaped supports for the backs in the colour of the legs and attach them. I am not into modern furniture, but love the basket seat! Good luck, looing forward to seeing it done in miniature.....
WOW! That is a fantastic looing chair I can't wait to see it once you have finished making it! Would you be able to put up a pattern of it once you finish? I would really love to make one (or 2) :P for my house!
Hannah :)
I'm sure you already have it finished as I am typing this through a margarita haze on the horizon. It's been a hell of a week here and I feel I, and my 'voluptuous' thighs deserve it. Issues with my 18 year old son--need I say more? Anyway, the good news is that I found my Dremel--I had suspected you had stolen it! LOL!

Marion, I have no problem with attaching the back. I would just like to make it look as much like the real one as possible....Thus, I need to know what it looks like.
Hannah, No pattern. As I said in the blog. I am winging it. Making it up as I go. It will be one of a kind. Sorry.
Jody, sorry about the teenager! They can make you question why you have children at times! I told you I didn't have your Dremel and Tessie is backing me up!What are you going to do with it, now that you found it???LOL
Wow! I am really impressed with this furniture and especially the chair!
You will certainly have to make another and another and another!
There will be a huge market for these! :D
Kathi, if I wasn't sure earlier, I am now. This chair is going to be one of a kind! I worked on it most of the day....At least seven hours....I am not even at the bottom of the opening for the seat yet. Using #20 crochet thread and adding in spokes until I had 67 that are 9" long and very uncooperative to work on, took a while. It is going to be worth it to me when it is finished, but I fear that nobody would like the price I would have to put on it. It will take at least a couple more 7 hour, non stop days to finish just the weaving....Did I mention that I am slightly mad from going round and round in circles with the thread? LOL
I will be putting a NFS sign on this one, for sure!
Forgot to mention that I started at the bottom and am working up...I still have the whole pod part to finish!
What exciting for a wicker chair .
