Getting a Bath......

Walter went out on the front porch this morning and lo and behold, there was a box from HBS behind the post. We don't know when it arrived. Probably yesterday when we were both gone.

Tessie took one look at it and said, "This is my bathroom? Yuck!!"

I had to explain that I had plans for the pieces. "They won't look like that when I am finished, Tessie. Honest!"

I love the Chrysenbon as a jumping off point. They can be fancied up in all kinds of ways. Just wait and see.

Meanwhile, back in the family room, my junk for flowers was still sitting out, waiting to be used.

This one is a fast and easy plant if you have one of the tiny flower punches. Grab a pot, bend a wire. Glue it in the pot and start covering the top half with the tiny flowers that have been cupped. I just smear glue on it and start picking up the flowers with tweezers and filling the top up as much as possible.

Then cut about five long blade shaped green leaves. Curl them with your scissors. Stick them around the stem with white glue. Sprinkle a bit of dirt to cover the glue.and you are done.... Hyacinth in a jiffy. You can make them in whatever color you want. I just happened to have purple.

The other two flowers in the photo are another very old, very faded Hyacinth and a generic daisy type flower that I whipped up with one of the flower punches. Three layers were pierced in the center and strung on a piece of wire. The top end was painted brown and leaves stuck on.

More instant flowers. All you need is the right punches.

See you tomorrow.

Instant flowers are great when you have a large area to cover or lots of pots to fill... :-)

Casey, I really appreciate your instructions on making things - very useful information - thanks! You make great plants and flowers. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Chrysnbon bath kit as well - I quite like the Chrysnbon kits for their detail.

Where do you get the tiny flower or leaf punches from? I've looked in the scrap booking section of the craft stores but can never find ones small enough.

I got the leaf punch at Michael's craft store. That was a couple of years ago. I think that you can still find the larger flower punch at craft and scrapbooking stores. There are also some nice "sun with rays" punches that work. If you can't find the leaf punches, you can cut flowers with a lot of the fancy scissors. I have a tut somewhere back a ways. I think under "plants" or maybe search "scissors" on the blog.

Here's the entry that has the instructions for using the scissors to cut leaves. http://caseymini.blogspot.com/2010/02/running-with-cheap-scissors.html I hope that this helps.

Hmm I will have to try make some flowers your way - I really like yours. All flowers I have were performed with aquarium plastic plants.
