Potting Shed Table...

Tessie came trudging in this morning, pushing one of the tables that I found at miniatures.com a while ago. She looked very determined. Not in the mood to argue.

Like the Big Bad Wolf, she huffed and she puffed as she pushed. Out of breath, she announced, "This shall be my potting table!"

Since I still had another one to spare, I didn't argue, but I asked, "Why didn't you just zap it in, instead of pushing it?"

She scowled at me and replied, " I used up most of my zap the other day to get off of the roof! It's your fault!"

How could I refuse, after she went to all that trouble? We discussed colors. "It has to be elegant.".

I asked her, "Who ever heard of an elegant potting shed, let alone an elegant potting table?"

She replied, "I don't care. My potting shed is going to be elegant! Understood? Anyway, this is what we came up with after much deliberation.

It has a red mahogany stained top and slats to match the roof. The body of the table is painted light ivory to match the trim on the house.

Tessie decided it was too plain. She got out a 0000 brush and whipped up some gold trim. She is going to have to go over some of it again in places with a second coat. The leaves are just "S" curves with single brush strokes for leaves. Very simple with practice.

Now she is busy trying to figure out how to get it up on the roof without my help. Sooner or later, I imagine that she will break down and ask me to do it.

It's too much fun watching her fume and sputter about it for now.

As soon as I put it up there, she will want pots and plants and dirt. Oh my!

I still have to do the floor and the railings up there. She is just going to have to wait.

Back to work. Elegant potting shed??? This should be an interesting day........

See you tomorrow.

Here I have to agree with Tessie - I want also an elegant potting shed :D

Your house is coming up so fast that I just wathc amazed - I have the whole exterior to tackle with and can't seem to get started with it.

Reading your stories, I think that you should write a book about Tessie and Zar. I'm serious :)

So who is going to move into Tessie's old house once the Townhouse is done?

And does this mean she's over the Magnolia?

Love the potting bench. :-)

Kat and all of you, don't stir the pot! Tessie has decided to keep the cottage as a summer retreat. And PLEASE don't mention the Monroe! She will want to start adding wings to the townhouse!!! Thanks!LOL

I always knew Tessie was spunky, but now I'm seeing that she really has great style too! (She's come a long way since that "puce phase"!) Love the details on the table!

Casey, I love your blog and following the adventures of Tessie! I have a small malti-terri-poo of the same name and eerily similar attitude...I can relate.(Don't tell your Tessie) Thanks for the post about the shingles - this is my next project and the info was very helpful. The table looks fabulous!
