Due To Circumstances Beyond My Control......

Sorry to be so late. The net was out of commission most of the day here. We are having drizzles again. We may as well move to Seattle. No offence to Seattle. That was just the first wet place that comes to mind.

Since I didn't have the computer to play with, I did get a lot of sorting done in the workroom.

Tessie found a few things that I had forgotten about. She likes the fairy, but can't get her to come to life. I got that at Pic n' Save long ago.

She also likes the dog in the flower bed. I found that at a thrift shop. It is the top to a porcelain dressing table container. I imagine that it is from the turn of the last century or thereabouts. I have always wanted to incorporate him into a garden scene of some sort.

Here's a little closer view of the fairy. I think that she needs repainting. I think that I bought four of them. The other three are gone.....Who knows where? This is how she looks right out of the box. It seems to me that orange isn't very fairy like.

Anyway, after sorting for hours, I ran onto the makeup tray cabochons that I had all ready to fill with resin....Can we say "Sidetracked once again."?

I managed to get three plates of them filled with the first layer. After they dry some, they will have to be refilled to make the tops rounded.

In case you were wondering, all of the pieces of paper that were put in the bottom of these tins were straight out of glossy magazines. Mostly from Veranda.

I think that I am going to like some of this batch.

So that you can see what happens to them after they are dry, here's one that I am working on right now.

Yes, I know that this qualifies as another UFO(unfinished object). It will get done eventually, just like everything else.......Honest!

Now that the computer is my friend again, I am going to go catch up with everything that has happened whilst I was cleaning.

See you tomorrow.

Was wondering where you were... it's raining here too. More tomorrow? Bet the sun is shining in Seattle!
I like the orange fairy but I'm sure you will make her even prettier.
I'm off to Google "cabochons" to see what that means? Yours is very nice.
See you tomorrow!

Kathi, cabochon is just a fancy word for a polished, unfaceted stone. I cheat and use the word for any unfaceted center in the pieces I am working on. The small turquoise stone is also a cabochon. The resin ones really aren't cabs, but I have to call them something....VBG

First, I love reading your blog. I always get a good laugh and learn something.

Question. May I ask how do you make the cabochons? You mentioned having to fill them again to get the rounded tops also.

Smiles~

Lone Dollier, go to http://caseymini.blogspot.com/2009/09/wednesday-again.html There is a tutorial on that particular day. That and other beadwork is listed under the "beadwork" section under the heading "labels" on the sidebar. I didn't mention the second fill in that tut, because you don't always need the second one. Good luck and I would love to see what you come up with if you try it.

I was beginning to worry that Tessie had turned you into a newt or something. Glad to hear it was just the interwebs being down. ;-)
