After you left yesterday I put in the steps. Tessie immediately started testing them. They work. Spike watched her running up and down like a crazy woman. Zar thought that "discretion was the better part of valor" and left after the third run. I think that she scared him. I haven't seen him since.
I got her calmed down I added sides to the steps and then started in on the ground around the gazebo. I marked off the part where the gazebo would sit and smeared white glue where I wanted the grass. I used green foam core. That way if I missed any spots with the glue and ground cover it wouldn't show through. I used Woodland Scenics dark green ground cover. After I had that covered, I marked where the path would go and repeated the process with the white glue and this time, Railroad ballast from Woodland Scenics. The bushes are lichen and the ferns and purple flowers are taken from artificial flowers. The little yellow ones are quilled.
When I finished that, Tessie got on her hands and knees and painted roses on the fronts of the steps. The gazebo itself is basically finished. Now all I have to do it decorate the interior. I think that I will save that part for later. Tessie has made me tired just watching her run up and down the stairs. I am going to go sit down and work on the rug that will go in the center of the floor now.
See you for the tea party tomorrow. You're invited!

It's beautiful Casey!! Tessie will enjoy sitting out there in the sunshine. Maybe now she might leave you alone long enough to get some work done in Zar's?? LOL
The gazebo is so lovely! Beautiful work by both you and Tessie. Looking forward to the tea party!
Very pretty! You'd never know it started life as a bird cage! I'll be there for tea tomorrow . . . thanks for the invite!
If I didn't see the bird cage 1st, I would have thought the Gazebo is from a kit.Congratulations! This is another fab idea!
What a lovely gazebo! Maybe Tessie will be happy with an outdoor room and won't keep asking for a new house. ;-)
Love the flowers! Fantastic! Hopefully I'll be there for tea tomorrow.
Super Casey and Super Tessie as well. Astonishing metamorphosis of a bird cage. I'll join you for a virtual tea.
Casey the Gazebo looks brilliant. Tessie did a wonderful job of painting the Roses. I'll definitely be there today for a virtual cup of tea.. x
You have created an wonderful gazebo and so quickly, Tessie is a real task master. I hope Tessie will help with the cakes for tomorrow's tea party, I will try and pop in, but as so often work gets in the way.
Thanks for sharing this project from start to finish.. It is lovely.
I live in a small home and am so longing to build and showcase..lol.. I think I may have to throw my 17 year old out so I can have his room..
