And Away She Goes!

I spent the morning at the vet's with a sick cat. I won't go into details, but Mookie is now wearing one of those dreaded Elizabethan collars for 10 days. He is NOT amused!

I managed to finish the dutch tile rug last night. This morning I steam pressed it. That's the nice thing about cross stitch. It stays straight.

Here it is with just one pressing. I think that it will go well with Tessie's choice of paint in the Clockwork cottage.

When I finished pressing and was photographing it, Tessie wandered into the kitchen and volunteered to hold it up so that you could see it better......Tessie and volunteering do not belong in the same sentence.

You may ask why I was suspicious? Have you ever seen Tessie volunteer without some idea of self help in mind? I will answer for you. NO!

The last I saw of her, she had turned tail and was ready to run for it. Then POOF! Gone with the wind. I have come to expect this with everything I finish.

The rug will be where I can find it when I finish the kitchen. I just hope she doesn't drown it in cappuccino before I go to rescue it from her cottage. Oops! I see a couple of threads that need clipping if I ever get it back.

For the rest of the day I will be cat sitting. In this case, it may mean literally sitting on the cat. He can't abide the collar and we had to put him back in the cat carrier to keep him from going berserk. Wish me luck!

See you tomorrow.

Run like you know what Tessie....oh wait I don't mean to encourage her....sorry Casey. But I must admit if I was there I'd be running like you know what out the door with that rug too! Awesome job. I just don't know how you manage to get so much done. Please, Please share your secrets. How in the world do you do it? You must work with the speed of lightening. Fess up!!!!

Sorry about your cat. We had a cat once with allergies so bad that he would scratch until he had hurt himself - mostly around his neck. We would apply the medication and then had to restort to cutting the toes out of our socks and using those to cover his poor little neck. As you probably already know - cats do not like it when you put things over their heads!

Casey,
Sorry to hear Mookie is under the weather... Hope he feels better soon.
As for the rug... It is worth running for.. Of course as you said you know just where to look for it.. But there is always the chance Tessie might want to gift this to someone who pulls for her regularly.. Hint Hint Tessie..
As said earlier... I am amazed at the speed you work.. Are you sure Tessie isn't witching you to the point of supersonic speed.. That way you can get things made quickly and she gets what she wants with less time between.

That rug is beautiful - I don't blame Tessie for running off with it. I Hope that Mookie will get used to the collar and not get too upset with it.

OK. I confess. That particular rug was designed about two years ago. I am just now finishing it. I have a whole bunch like that. You know how I work.

Tessie knows that rugs are one thing that she can't regift. They take far longer to make than it appears. She knows that she would go back in her glass cage if she started doing things like that! LOL

Casey, this rug is amazing! It is sooo straight! What do you mean that's the good thing about cross-stitching?? Mine definitely did not stay straight as you know. lol. Is this a 25 count or above?

Poor Poor Mookie!! Tell him not to feel bad, our kitties hate them too! And I think it's the funniest thing to watch...Hehehe~ Especially when you watch them trying to get in to the litter box, and they can't....cause of the satelliete dish on their head! (We have a covered cat box) Poor babies!!

At the moment, Mookie is hiding under a chair here. He seems to be doing ok....We shall see. He definitely doesn't like taking pills. Widget, the phantom cat is sitting outside the door and meows once in a while. He refuses to come in. I think that he is afraid that if he comes in he will get captured like his brother did.

Thank you for all of the nice comments on the rug. Sans, the rug is on #22 hardanger cloth. That is the largest I use for miniatures. What I meant about the cross stitch being straight is, if you do it relaxed and one stitch at a time, it stays pretty much square. If you do it as a row of the first half and then a row of the second half it doesn't so much. You have to be careful if you do it that way.

It is the same with the basketweave in needlepoint. Your stitches are going in two different directions so that forces the fabric in both directions.

Casey,
I had to laugh when I read the comment about regifting the rugs.. By no means let me be the cause for her return to the glasshouse. I will enjoy your rugs by photos.
Thanks for the info on the stitching also.. I am going to try my hand at a rug soon.. Have to decide where it will go first...
Have a great Memorial Day.
