The Six Year Old Is Back!

Sorry about that. The six year old attention span grabbed me and took me to this site.http://www.craftstylish.com/item/44033/crafty-inspiration-plastic-bottle-purse I was wandering through all of the neat sewing projects on Craft Stylish. If you are interested in any other kind of needlecraft or crafts, this is a great site. Just go to the Homepage. People come up with some really imaginative ideas. The plastic bottle purse was really different. Six year old me took a couple of water bottles(That's all I had.) and started playing. I have a feeling I am going to be urging Walter to finish the Pepsi and Root beer that is in the fridge so that I can play with bigger bottles.

I know it's silly, but it was fun. Maybe one or two people will want to try it. You just cut the bottles off at the height that you want them. I imagine that you could cut one off higher or lower if you wanted. I decided that, for the first one I would make it simple and cut them at the same place so that I knew that the diameter would be right.

The bottle that I used was just right for a 7" zipper. I punched holes at about 3/8" intervals around the bottle about 1/4" from the edge. I punched an uneven number so that when I went around the bottle with a running stitch I would be able to keep going around a second time in the opposite holes. That way I had a solid line of stitches on both the inside and the outside of the bottle. After I stitched around both sides, I whip stitched the green around the pink stitches to make it rope like. Where the zipper meets head to tail I stitched both sides together. That made a sort of hinge. Then I made a tassel for a zipper pull. It probably took 45 minutes to an hour to do.
They don't give specific directions on the site. I just guessed until I got it pretty much right.

I think that these have possibilities as storage containers in the workroom if I don't lose interest.

BTW, the six year old did finish putting the frames around the squares on the rug last evening. I am now working on the center of the squares.

I apologise for not doing a lot with minis today. Even I have to do something else once in a while.

I will be back at it tomorrow.

See you then.
