I have been working on the living room fireplace this morning. I used the new glasses. I can only see 12" from my face before it starts getting blurry. Maybe my favorite Optometrist can tell me if this is normal. Rosanna, are you out there? It seems like I have to keep refocusing my eyes every few minutes to really see. I definitely can't drive my car with them. I can see the steering wheel but the speedometer and other instruments on the dash are very blurry. Anyway, refocusing again, I am wearing the old glasses now. I have never had any difficulty getting used to new glasses before. I think that is why this is so frustrating.
I got about a third of the second side of the fireplace carved. I finally switched back to my old glasses so that I could see what I was doing. I went back and re did some of the carving that I did while I had the other glasses on.
My husband asks why I keep trying. I want to be able to tell Dr. Amy how these are not working and I can't if I don't try.
I am quiting for the day. On top of everything else, my eyes just feel tired.
Tessie is no help at all. Now she is sitting on the edge of a shelf in the family room. Yes. She still has the two dogs. Hey! At least as long as she has them for company she is staying out of my hair.
I am going now to finish the real world housework. I don't like that even more than I don't like the new glasses.....No. Wait. I like the new glasses. I just don't like the new lenses. Bah Humbug! Grumble, grumble, grumble!
See you tomorrow.

Shame you can't get on with the new glasses Casey. The carving looks great and Tessie looks very happy with her two new best friends..
Hi Casey, are you short or long sighted? because if you have an hypermetropia what you describe could mean either that the lenses are overpowered or that they have been positioned too high according to the pupil position.Another thing could be the changing of the structure of lenses. You said that the new frame is square while the old one was rounded: if they have turned to a short channel lenses WITHOUT changing the highness of center, this can cause troubles as well. There are many things to consider but 12" are definitely too short a distance even though you have a full blown presbiopia. Go to your doctor and do not overtire What could I do if you stop blogging? I'd miss it too much.
Rosanna, I wish you were here to be my doctor or I was there. I don't really know what I have. I am really fuzzy long and short distance. I have bifocals. Thanks for answering my question. It makes me feel better to know that they could be overpowered. It just seems like they are like looking through a magnifier all the time up close.
I won't stop blogging if I can help it. It's as much fun for me as it is for you. Tessie says "Hi!"
I would definitely go back to the doctor. She could tell you quickly if the glasses were made wrong for your eyes.
You need to see in order to carve the wood and not yourself. That would be bad.
Wonderful carving! I hope you figure out your problem with your glasses soon, that can be so frustrating.

I should have gone right back in, in person. Instead I waited to see if it got better. Now I have an appointment for Friday morning. Wish me luck. If they give me a hard time I will just tell them what you said Rosanna!
Esplendido, me gusta mucho la idea. Angeles.
Hi Casey, I have just discovered your blog and have spent about an hour going through your posts. My marvel over what you have done since the 80's beggars words so I have "featured" your blog on 2 of my posts (they are the award posts on Day 36 and Day 43). If you have some time, do pop by and see if you like what I wrote. I hope you don't mind me using some pictures from your blog as I believe, like you, that they are better than 1000 words. The other good thing is you have already been given both awards so you do not need to do the whole rigmarole again :). Although I think these awards are a great way of linking each other up so I love 'em anyways. So go fix your glasses and come by after that. I mean every word that I have written :).
