Raise High the Roofbeams....

Today is a short blog day. As usual Monday gets in the way of doing a lot mini-wise. I am trying to get reality in check so that I can go back to mini-ing more tomorrow.

I did get the matchstick mat painted and I'm in the process of installing it now. I could show you a photo of ceiling painting if I had remembered to get out the camera. You are lucky. You don't have to watch paint dry.
I tried one coat of just a wash of antique white. I found that little bits of color were showing through the cracks from the other side. The second coat was better. The third coat was best. It still has some wood tones showing through in places. I used Aileen's Fast Grab to install it. Then I went to my molding and trim drawer and dug out the ever present blind slats. I think that they must multiply when I am not watching. I still haven't run out. I cut those to fit and glued them over the matting where the threads are. Did I mention that I laid the building on it's front to do this? I put down a towel so that I wouldn't damage the shingle edges. It worked just fine.
When I stood back and looked from a distance, the beams were too dark. The solution? I did a wash of the same Light Ivory Ceramcoat over it all. Later I will do a few different color washes over the ivory part.
Now I have to go do the mundane every day stuff. The washer is calling to be emptied and so is the dryer.
Here's a miniature site with a beautiful French Country Dollhouse that will keep you somewhat amused until tomorrow.
See you then.
