Decision to Tell All

Well... Maybe not all... Just enough...

I really feel that my friends need to know what was going on when I said I was not feeling good.

For the past month or so, I have been having health problems... Some weren't so much health problems as they were treatment problems.

I was diagnosed with cancer in my left breast. I am not going to let this get me down!

I had my first chemotherapy a week ago, last Friday. After that, I was feeling a bit rocky.  I had my first immune booster shot last Monday.  The side effects are worse than the disease.

I felt fine until the doctors started trying to fix what ails me.  I won't go into the side effects, but they aren't fun.

I am going to keep on, keeping on, as they say... Who are "they" anyway?

I am going to keep doing the daily blog, but if I miss once in a while, I hope that you will understand.

I tried to talk Tessie into taking over, but I hesitate to do so.  She will probably not let me have it back and who knows what she will type?

Typing from the top of a pogo stick is haphazard at best...

I don't intend to turn this into a medical blog.  It will still be about minis. Maybe once in a while I will add a "doing fine" just to let you know.

This is all I am going to say on the subject for now.  Back to the regularly scheduled programing tomorrow.  As soon as I stop typing, I am going to attempt the take the pogo stick away from Tessie!

See you tomorrow... Lots of minis!

Thank you for sharing. I always look forward to your blog posts! My husband underwent chemo 6 years ago, and while 'it gets easier after the first round' isn't exactly accurate, you DO eventually learn how you're going to react to the side effects and how to make them less horrible. Take full advantage of the good days, and don't push yourself on the bad ones. We're here rooting for you!

Oh Casey, not the best news but your attitude doesn't surprise. Go girl. I did wonder a little as you've sounded unlike your usual self. Thanks for letting us know so we can hold you in thoughts and prayers. Please don't let Tessie harrass you too much, entice her into something lockable and enjoy the silence ;)

Casey, thank you for letting us know what's going on. I'm sorry you're going through this! You are one of my absolute favorite bloggers, and if I lived in Arizona, I would want to be your best friend and invite you over to play with dolls and beads. I hope the doctors get those side effects under control soon. *Hugs.*

Casey, I went through breast cancer several years ago and yes some of the "fixes" were worse than the chemo. I found your blog and minis while recuperating. Best thing that ever could have happened. I have loved following you and Tessie,Spike, Zar and all the rest! Take care of yourself, protein smoothies and fruit Popsicles were my best friends through out it all. Give them a try, the smoothies kept me going when nothing else would stay down and the Popsicles helped with the dry mouth. My thoughts and prayers and going out to you. Shelly

You come first Casey. I am living through a similar experience. When I first knew that I was going to hospital for a while, I wrote several weeks' worth of blog posts in advance so that I would not be missed. I thought that after surgery and the horrors of treatment I would be able to use my blog to get my life back on track. I love blogging about the things I make in my studio. It did not work out that way. Blogging became a mountain ahead of me all the time and I left a series of projects hanging in the air. I thought my readers would drift off and send me hate mail for keeping them in suspense. But the amazing thing is the continued support and messages from my regular readers. Everyone is encouraging me to take time out and get better. They actually make me believe that it's going to happen soon.
You just do what you feel like doing on any given day. We will be here to cheer when we see a new post!

What a MENACE cancer is! I can imagine how you must be feeling right now Casey as this is going to be a real test of faith and endurance for you. I am so sorry that you are having to experience this but I do know that your frame of mind has just as much healing power in it as the drug treatments do. I will be praying for your complete recovery just as the others have expressed to you. And may God bless you and keep you strong.

Very sorry to hear about this, Casey, but very glad to read your positive attitude about beating the cancer. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

As a 20-year Survivor, I am with you all the way. Someone wrote about popsicles and smoothies. I ate popsicles all the time! I didn't know about smoothies but did get sherbet down. The side effects are most brutal. But you are a strong lady with a very united and caring family. I am praying for a good recovery. I did find that soft music helped me to relax during and after treatments. I had my earphones and was even able to doze. Kick its butt!!!!

I'm late getting this news, but know that I am praying for you, Casey. And I absolutely know you'll beat this. We're all sending you prayers and love and healing energy.
