Only Three Inches....

 This morning I had one of those "Aha" moments.  I didn't like the towers.  I didn't really want a wrought iron staircase...

How about climbing a tree to get to the roof?

Well, not really climbing.  Just using the tree as a basis for a spiral staircase.

I went out to my always faithful Rosemary bushes.  They have been in the back yard for almost as long as we have lived here.  Some of the under branches have been "dead" for years.

I don't prune them out.  I like the way they look and they come in handy for all kinds of mini stuff.  Case in point?  A spiral staircase for Daisy's Cottage.

I ran the idea by the Terrible Two and they immediately took to the idea...I suspect that they didn't want to do the staircase to the roof and they knew that I would have to do this one.

First find the branch.  Found one.  Second, see if it fits the idea. It fits. Third....Try to figure out how I am going to make it happen... Give me a couple of days...

Did you notice that Zar and Tessie are in new clothes and they even got new hair?... It looks the same as the old.  They are set in their ways.

Also, did you notice that Tessie was sitting down in the first two photos? 

She talked me into making her just a pinch taller whilst I was making new bones.  She didn't know how to break it to Zar.

She told me, "I want to be able to look Zar in the eye, without standing on tip toes or stretching my neck."

I was hesitant to agree.  She has always been 5'3" in real size terms.  She wanted to be at least three inches taller...I finally agreed to it.  It's easier than fighting the problem...

However, I told her that she was going to have to be the one to break the news to Zar.  Thus, sitting down was her answer to the problem.  She started by sitting on the edge of the roof.  That worked...for a while.

Then Zar wanted to show her what the tree was going to look like from the roof garden... She sent him downstairs for something to drink.  While he was away, she zapped her director's chair in from the workroom and climbed into it...That made her a little taller.  She was almost eye level with him.  He is used to that.

Then  she stood up.  She was still almost eye level... He looked at her and said..."You look different.  The new hairdo makes you look taller...".  Problem solved.  She didn't contradict him. Now he will always think that he is right....It's the new hairdo!

Just wait until they have an argument and she pokes him in the eye.  The "new hairdo" will make it much easier to do....She used to have to stand on a stool...Just wait....
