Thinking About Alternatives...

This morning, I didn't get a lot done...I did in real life, but not in mini.

When I got home from shopping, I dug out some books, looking for ideas for Daisy's bed.

As usual, the Bloomie's book came out.  I have always liked this hanging bed...I don't know if I could pull it off in a room with both sides of the ceiling pitched.... But I do like it a lot.
Second choice would be a "daybed".  This is off of the front cover of Architectural Digest Nov.-Dec. 1975.  Yes.  I saved that one because of this house and because it had a long article with photos of dollhouses.  It was by Flora Gill Jacobs.  And that was even before I got into minis!

Anyway, I think that Daisy would go for something exotic and these two rooms kind of fit the bill...  We shall see what she thinks.
Whilst thinking, I started rolling some tubes for baskets more like the real Russian ones.  I found a couple of pulp advertising magazines outside the restaurant that I eat breakfast at sometimes. There were several choices in little news stand thingies.

The paper looks a lot like the paper that the Russians use. And an added bonus is longer tubules(that's what the Russians call them).

Either they don't mind hands blackened from the ink or their ink doesn't rub off as much as ours does.  My hands look much worse in real life than they do in the photo.  That was just from rolling the tubes that you see with my hand.  It took several washings to get the stuff off.  I do want to make at least one that resembles theirs.  I think that this has me sold on using magazines instead.  With those, no blackened hands.

I am going back now and think some more and roll dirty newspaper pulp.

See you tomorrow.  I promise to be mini-ing then.

I love both rooms. I like the idea of the wall with plants on it.

Casey, if you use a bit of dry-skin hand lotion before you start rolling tubes you'll find that the ink washes off more easily. When I'm working with newsprint I also rub some slightly softened soap under my nails and into my cuticles. It helps the ink to wash off easily. Great for gardening, too!

Love the hanging bed. Such a fun idea.

Mary, I didn't like the one that I got about half done. That and all of the messy paper went straight to the recycle bin. I like my magazine baskets much better. Much prettier and no mess.
