Field Trip...

Sorry, no work today.  We went on a field trip to the Mini Time Machine.

This was Amare's first time there.  We didn't know what to expect from a 1 3/4 year old.  He is definitely into miniatures.  Especially the ones with any kind of motor vehicles involved.

It was interesting to see him on the window that is atop the Christmas Village.

He was unsure about walking on it, until Grandpa showed him how it is done.  Boys will be boys.

There is also another Christmas display in the wall behind the one on the floor.  He loved the railroad handcar that wet back and forth on a two foot track.
Grandma got in the game with one of her witches.  I did Three for Pat's Witches Mansion while I was working there restoring antique houses.

This one was in Nutshell News, when it still went by that name.

I couldn't use a flash in the museum so the photo isn't the best.  Sorry about that.
This one is a witch that is waiting for  the "beast" interior decorator.  Pat had someone sculpt the beast from the "Beauty and the Beast" TV series and turned him into a shop owner/decorator.

It's too bad that this is not a better photo.  She has a spider hanging from the edge of her hat and it is about even with her nose.  The trench coat has a cape like collar in the shape of bat wings.

The lighting in the fantasy room is a bit dark, but very effective when you are wandering around in there.

This one was my first witch and the face is a bit on the large side...But she has character.

I made the sign above her head(before computers with fonts).  Pat didn't want the witches to misplace the secret passage...When you pull on a rope on the side, the bookcase lifts up.

The witch holds a bottle of beauty potion in one hand and a mirror in the other....The reflection is of a very pretty woman....At least the witch sees herself as beautiful.
Amare was fascinated with the hologram of the fairy in the mouse tree.  She appeared every few minutes.  He made April stand there and help him learn to say "1-2-3, Hokus Pokus" to get her to appear.

Then when she disappeared, he would say "Poof!"  He had that part down pretty good.  Hokus-Pocus was a bit harder...

Yes....I do believe that there is a fledgling miniaturist in there somewhere.  It may take a couple of years for it to fully develop...I can wait.

See you tomorrow.

The mini time machine looks like a really interesting and absorbing place to visit. I'm sure it was great fun for you to see your grandson's reactions - its always lovely to see these things afresh through the eyes of small children. Well done on your contribution to the exhibit.
I almost never use flash on the camera indoors (though I agree the lighting in there was quite dark), I'm lucky to have the use of a camera with a good sensor which copes well with high ISO so I can adjust the shutter speed and aperture to suit the lighting. conditions
