None of the beings(including Widget) in this photo had anything to do with the work done on the box, since you last saw it.
I whittled down the stairs a bit and then cut all of the veneers that will be the floor of the top space, the stairs and the pit. I simply saved the patterns for the steps and used those to cut the veneers.
That took a while, but I got it done, with my trusty #11 Exacto. Now I have to sand them and varnish before installing.
When I finish, the stucco will enclose everything and the edges will not be visible.
The piece that went on the top floor was about an inch too short lengthwise, but I have more. I do still have to cut that one. Actually, if I left it out, probably no one would ever know...But I would.
I kind of hate to cover all of the oak on the walls, but it has to be done. That's next. Then the bookshelves in the upper level.
While I do the work, the others went through the fabric closets....Oh No!
I can't bring myself to look at what they did.
I told them that I was going to use the leather that they were sitting on for the bench cushion. That is a given.
Then I let them have at it.
Zar is leaning towards the pile on the left, all of which I have used before...Some of my favorites.
Tessie has the reds on the right. I think she has the idea that I will choose those because the original room has a lot of red in it...The tie that she is holding is one of the ones that Jerry Garcia, of the Grateful Dead, designed. He was quite the artist. I like it, but I am still not going for the combination.
Spike is somewhere in the middle. He doesn't really care which I use, as long as he has a place to sleep.
You guessed it...I am on Spike's side about the sleeping accommodations.....But I am on Zar's side for fabric choice...He may just be in the lead for ownership...Sorry Tessie.

I really like how this project is evolving. I have a feeling Eskiaga will be comfortable hanging out over here with Zar. I vote for the fabric that Spike's standing on. The circles somehow seem too bubbly and the houndstooth/check seems too sedate.

Phylissa, I am leaning towards that one as the main fabric too. It's the one that I used in the living room of the townhouse. There wil be others. Lots of throw pillows.

Deni, I just used foam core. I try to use materials that are readily available. That way, if someone wants to try it, they can.

Deni, just remember, if you are going to paint the foam core, paint both sides at the same time to keep it from warping.
