Still Plugging Along...

The temperature in Tucson has reached the record for 39 days in a row over 100 degrees!  That was yesterday...Today it is supposed to finally cool down.  It is predicted to be 97 degrees...What a relief...Yes.  That was said with tongue in cheek...

I won't be going out of the house today, except to feed and water the squirrels and birds.

Actually, since we aren't having Witches this week, I plan to stay under the air conditioner and sort my fabric stash....That could take the rest of the month.

I am very close to finished with the dressing room.  I still need to do the costume/s.  This morning, I toned down the candle tree with black paint and a cloth.  It will no longer hold candles.  It will hold clothes.

I think that I have mentioned before that there were no such things as hangers until the early 1900s.

I was watching one of the Elizabeth the First films the other night and in that, Elizabeth had a huge number of dress forms with her clothes displayed on them.  No dress forms back then either.  They kept them in hampers and trunks or hung them on hooks on the wall.

This is not completely authentic.  Mostly my idea of what it should be.  But I draw the line at things that I know to be wrong. Then I go and make something up that seems more logical to me, like draping the clothes over a chair or hanging them on a makeshift hook.

While I was working, I happened to spot the bottle of Fabri-tack glue, tipped over on the edge of the paint table...Look what I found going over the edge.

This is about 4" long and just a little rubbery.  Remember the fountain that I used this stuff in?  I didn't know that you could get BIG rushes of water with it.

I have no idea what to use it for, but I did find it interesting that, when left to it's own devices, it fills the drops from the inside instead of running all over the place.  Now, if we could just find a way to control it...Oh! The possibilities!

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.

Hi Casey. I don't envy your extreme
hot weather. I don't do well in the heat.
The dressing room looks good. You
know how to tell a story in a limited space.

I have a friend in Chandler AZ. She refers to her plants as crispy critters when the weather gets really hot. LOL
What did you mean by, "Actually, since we aren't having WITCHES this week, I plan to stay under the air conditioner?"

Hello Casey,
I cannot wait to see what you come up with for the glue mishap. It makes me think of the inside of a magic mirror or a portal...
enjoy the air conditioning.
Big hug,
Giac

it's humid and rainy here! I love that idea of leaving clothes around ..makes the place looked lived in (you should see my room..it really looks lived in)

I wonder if my Aunt Pat is going to melt while she's in Tuscon for the N.A.M.E. convention! Have fun sorting your fabrics. I'm doing that and trying to organize the books and magazines in my workroom.

The humidex is 39 here today. The humidity is unbearable. I really can't do too much. I have two fans going but there are times that it doesn't seem to help much. We're expecting a storm. I hope it cools off the atmosphere a bit. I don't dare go out with this high humidex because I have trouble breathing in it. Your box is coming along just fine. I like what you did to the clothes hanger. It will look so colourful when you make the clothes and hang it up. You'll have to keep an eye on Tessie in case she tries to zap away those dresses. I'm sure she'll try.

Kat, it would be nice if I only had books in my workroom. They are all over the house. Triple bookcase in the family room and single ones in both bedrooms...and six in the workroom. Help!!! I'm drowning in books!LOL

It rains almost every evening here during monsoons. I am not having to water the back yard much, even at 100 degrees. Speaking of which, it is almost three PM and the clouds are rolling in right on schedule.

Grandmommy, You probably haven't been around long enough to know that I belong to a group of mini people that are called the Wednesday Witches. We aren't meeting this week because of the convention. I sometimes forget that not all of my friends don't know about the Witches!LOL

Oooooh, I wanna see the fabric stash again! Sorting fabric is always relaxing to me. I just love petting the fabric. ;)

did you know you can put the glue back in the jar with the fresh glue and it will dissolve and be glue again??

Kath, thanks for the tip! I did not know that. I might do that next time. This time I am going to keep it the way that it is. It's really pretty, for a mistake.LOL

Your glue reminds me of water spraying up from a fountain (if it is turned upside down) Love it!!
