Channeling Bob Ross....

First of all, I have two legs carved.  I can only do that kind of work for just so long and then my eyes start to cross and I start to see stars.  That was yesterday.

This morning I decided that I had to do something on one of the other boxes.  I went for the Mystery Box.

Oh!  I forgot to tell you about solving my worktable problems.   I wanted something a bit taller than the one that I have been working on.  Walter and I discussed putting it up on bricks or some other kind of risers.

Then I solved the problem by wandering around Walmart!  I love this table!  It is just right for the space I have.  The top is very durable and washable.  Best of all, it is adjustable to three different heights.  Even better than best of all, it was priced at 15.00!
Now, about the boxes.  I decided that there should be some "Outside" in the Mystery Box.

I took a piece of graph paper, folded it in half and cut out an arch shape...

I drew around it on the inside lid of the box.

Then I started channeling Bob Ross...Yup.  He's the guy that did an oil painting class on PBS for many years.

Being an artist myself, I was a big fan....I loved the fact that he could turn out a pretty good oil painting in 30 minutes....Well, 30 minutes not counting the stop time between camera takes....

Anyway, once in a while, I take advantage of the techniques that I learned by watching that show.

I sat down.  I squeezed out white, browns, greens and blue.

In about 30 minutes, I had this...

Thank you, Bob.

The mystery is, where will this go next?  You will have to wait and see...

See you tomorrow.

Hi Casey! I loved watching Bob Ross and although I never tackled any of the paintings that he did, I always enjoyed the process that he incorporated and the gentle and the encouraging way he had when addressing the viewing audience! His voice was very soothing and I enjoyed the greater majority of the end results of his 30 minute art work! What you have produced for your mystery room box is a terrific tribute to him! I love the landscape that you have decided on; Well done!

I also have the collapsable Wal-mart table and you are right about its versatility!

Hello Casey,
I have mixed feeling of great admiration of your talent, love for the painting you made, and envy of your talent...in a friendly way of course. Terrific work.
Big hug,
Giac

Hi Casey. Bob Ross was one of my
favorite TV painters. He is greatly
missed. I purchased one of his books and painted one of the selections on canvas. It took me an hour, which I consider good for my first one. I still have it set aside for when I can get organized to sell that and my other artwork.
I should try a few mini ones in the Bob Ross style and then open a mini art gallery. LOL! I have already done a few other mini canvases and gave them to my sisters.
I like the direction you are going with the mystery box.

Lovely painting. 30 mins is scary. It would take me forever just to think about starting it. Great work. IndyPoppy

Very beautiful painting. I enjoyed Bob Ross as well, and loved hearing about the "squirrels" in the paintings! He was so soothing, and came on next to Sewing with Nancy!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

Jeff, I had to laugh at your comments. If you look closely, you will see that there are, indeed, TWO happy little trees in either corner of the foreground! LOL
