Waiting for Gesso and Glue to Dry...

I awoke this morning to cracks and holes!  I didn't take into account the weather and the heating and cooling of the gesso...Oops!

Evidently the expansion and contraction factor came into play.

Sooo... I grabbed the gesso jar and brushes and had another go at it.

We live in Arizona.  This isn't supposed to happen!  It was 22.5 degrees this morning when I got up.  It went down to 20.5 an hour or so later.

I refuse to budge from this house until the temperature rises to at least 40.  Enough of this nonsense!
I went through the whole process again.  Hopefully, I won't have to do it a third time.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me. All I have to do is wait patiently for another 24 hours now....I hate waiting!!!
While Zar and Tessie were supposed to be cleaning house, I finished the stitching on the latest rug.

Here it is, with just a light pressing.  No stretching or pinning involved.

If you look closely, you will see a line of white glue around the edge. I spread it on the back over a couple of lines of sitching and out onto the waste canvas.  I am waiting for that to dry.  Then I will simply trim off the excess canvas all around.

I dislike rugs that are turned under on the edges.  If you stop to think about it, in real life that would make them about 2" thick.  Chairs never set right if you need to place them half on and half off of the rug.  They are noticeably lopsided.

Just one of my quirks.

See where the Terrible Two are standing?  Yes, they are holding up the rug in the bathroom...

No.  They didn't finish the clean up job that they were supposed to do.

I guess I will have to stand over them with a whip and a chair, like a lion tamer, to get the job done.  Or...No...I don't want to do it myself.

I'm off to watch gesso and glue dry....Maybe I will start another rug...

See you tomorrow.

I thought it was cold here today. It's about 40 degrees and raining, and raining and raining some more...
UGH. I have to go outside to work or I would just stay home myself!

Your rug is beautiful! Perfect and beautiful! Maybe I should just put carpeting in my bathroom. Very 1980s.
Then again, maybe not. :/

The rug is great and so is the wall texture. I too hate waiting for things to dry. Keep up the good work!

good idea about the rug edges, I agree about the bulk, it spoils the look.
Shame about the gesso refusing to dry, I guess you're not used to the low temp outside. snow on the ground outside here (though it did get rained on this evening, so crunchy slush now, will be slippery & dangerous in the morning) - Midlands, UK.
