Teeny Tiny Table...And No Glasses...

I was supposed to get my new glasses today....Nope.  Well, I did and I didn't.  In that order.

I went in to pick them up.  All was OK.  The doctor talked me into progressive lenses....He did not however, tell me that it would be looking through a knot hole in a fence. I exaggerate a bit.

My eyes are bad.  I am used to bifocals.  He told me to get used to pointing my nose where I wanted to look...I thought he meant up and down.  That, I could manage.  It was side to side that I couldn't.

I glanced into the other lane of traffic and noticed that I couldn't read the license plate on the car to my right and just ahead....Maybe 20 feet.

I stopped at a store and whilst strolling down the aisle, I noticed that I couldn't see any of the merchandise clearly unless I turned my head and looked directly at it.  Starting to not like what I am seeing....

I came home and called Walter at work.  By this time I was testing out TV and subtitles....I could read those.  I glanced at the bedroom door(about 5 feet from the TV).  Fuzzy!  Looked the other way at the closet door.  Fuzzy!

Walter said that his were not like that.  He encouraged me to go back to the eye place.

I think that my eyes are at least twice as bad as his...All this mini-ing has taken it's tole.

Maybe the problem is because my eyes are so bad.

I took his advice and went back straight away.  Long story, less long.  They were very nice and are replacing the fancy lenses with plain old bifocals with line.  It will now be another two weeks.  But I am much happier.  I will at least be able to glance to the side without getting dizzy.

OK....Now about the little table.  I treated myself to a stop at my favorite antique mall on the way home...I deserved it.

The table is a little smoking table from the 30s or so.  Someone broke the ashtray that was part of the table at one time....No longer there. That's why it was under 12 dollars.

It jumped in my car and begged me to give it a new home.  How could I refuse?  I needed something to set tools and a drink on when I am working...It is perfect.  Now if I can keep the bugs I mean the Terrible Two out, it will be put to good use.

I am much happier now that I can see everything around me.  It will take two weeks for the new ones, but I can wait...

Back to work, after a wasted morning.

See you tomorrow.

A knot hole in a fence...hahaha!! I felt like I was looking through a fishbowl. I was high stepping and knew I couldn't drive in them, had to turn my head side to side and jig it up and down just to read the computer screen, talk about dizzy. Those lenses were horrible things! Back to the familiar comfort of bi-focals for me too.

Susan, thank you for letting me know that I am not the only one! I wonder if it is just miniaturists that have this problem? LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one too Casey, no-one seemed to understand what I was saying about those multi-focal lenses. It would be interesting to know if it's a miniaturist thing!

I don't know, but I'm another one!
Hated those progressive lenses. Hated bi-focals too. Hate glasses in general! Now I have contact lenses (for my special eyes) and I can see everything just fine. I even passed the test at the driver's license place. I have an astigmatism. Don't let them tell you that matters!
Ah yes, seeing is believing! :D

I too, could not tolerate progressive lenses. I also hate bifocals, so I have two pairs of glasses instead.

Love that little smoking table!

Me too! I was so dizzy in progressives I didn't last a day. Back to bifocals for me! Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I didn't like progressive lenses, either. I couldn't see the things I needed to see. I now have tri-focals and they are perfect. But now I'm working 5 days/week and don't have much time for minis. :(

Casey, you're certainly not alone, I once had a pair of those weird glasses too (they're called varifocals in the UK). They cost me over £300 some ten years ago and I wore them about three times - biggest waste of money ever! Perhaps being miniaturists does have something to do with our intolerance, as Susan said - that our eyes are used to working very close up to things and within a limited field

I've been wearing progressive lenses for many years. I even had contact lense progressives for many years. I never had a problem with them. I no longer wear contacts, just my glasses. Last December I got a new prescription and the progressive lenses they made me were defective. They gave me a very hard time. They kept me going until April when they finally came up with lenses that were not defective. They said the material the company had used to cut my lenses was defective. Exactly what I had been telling them all the time. Those lenses were terribly expensive. I had paid $1,000, for them. I will never go back there again. Now I again have a new prescription, but I'm waiting until next year. There isn't that much difference and I'm not made of money. And, I'm not getting those expensive lenses anymore because they are not that much different from my old lenses. They just give me a larger field of vision on both sides. Just too much money.
