All in a Day's Work....

The first order of the day was to go out and photograph Hudson Hawk. Then tell him that he couldn't have breakfast here. The back yard was closed, due to rain...

He never pays much attention to me. I was about 10 feet away from him when I took this. The poor bird was dripping and miserable, but I still wouldn't let him play with the other birds in the yard.

After I kicked Hudson out, I came back in the house and continued knitting....It is getting down to my pre-Christmas
knitting madness...

Of course, Tessie has to get into the act. This is one of the new yarns I bought yesterday. I had to see what it was going to look like when knitted. I am always surprised when the yarn does something unexpected. With this, it is going to spiral down and around the wearer's foot. I can't decide if I like it or not. Just have to knit and see.

There is another edge of knitting at the bottom of the photo. That will be a hat that April requested. I am not going to let her see it until its finished. So you don't get to see it either.

Tessie wandered in and out, whining and whinging because they weren't for her. She finally jumped into the tatting box. She dug around until she found puce. Remember the phase that she went through a couple of years ago. She was puce crazy for a while. She insisted that the thread was small enough to make her an afghan. I kept saying, "No". She kept stomping her feet and poking one of the tiny metal knitting needles at me. It was starting to scare me, so I gave in...Better to try it and prove her wrong than to be poked to pieces.

I was right, but she likes it. She says it's bulky weight and it will be warm.

I am using the pattern to the left. It is called "herringbone. I have 1/2 of one repeat done.

I chugged along on it for about three hours, off and on. This is what I have to show for it.

Then, just now, I made a mistake. This is not going to be fun to fix. That's why I am here writing instead of still knitting. I am afraid that I am going to have to throw in the towel and start over. It is nearly impossible to rip this pattern back to the proceeding row.

I am about to go break the news to Tessie now. Somebody give me a push. Maybe a little moral support?

I wonder if she would like that piece finished off and made into a scarf? That's what I get for stopping to eat lunch.

See you tomorrow.

Aw.... I'm sure Tessie will forgive you - I'm sure she knows how hard you work to please her.

If she doesn't... maybe she needs an attitude adjustment? LOL

Lily, Attitude adjustment? She would just tell me that I need one more than she does!

Casey, whatever you do, don't undo this. Three hours of work? I believe you. It's so hard to knit on those small needles. Just turn it into a scarf. It will look nice. That's a pretty colour.

Lucille, you are just a little too late. I started to make it a scarf, but it just didn't look right. The stitches were going the wrong way. It looked really weird. It is now unwound and back on the ball...Don't worry, It will be made into something else.

Doesn't Tessie know you have other projects on the fire?

Great shot of the hawk - it amazes me that he let you get that close to him!
