Subtlety Is Not Her Strong Suit.....

Tessie is cheating now. Wearing two aprons in one day is not a good thing.....They are going to last half as long!

I wanted to show you what is happening with the chest that I stained a couple of days ago.

After staining and drying, I painted on a coat of Ceramcoat Old Parchment. Then I sanded it roughly. I was going to put a coat of another color on and sand again, but changed my mind.

I decided to see what would happen if I just painted a faint design on the front. We have a real chest of drawers that has this kind of design over plain wood. I tried it and I liked it, so I quit and put the handles on it.....However.....Tessie hates it. She keeps yelling, "Paint it again! Paint it again! It's ugly!" Maybe the design needs to be a little less subtle.

Actually, after looking at it, I am not really happy with it either.....I don't think that Shabby Chic goes with this particular chest of drawers. There isn't enough detail. It's kind of boring....Back to the drawing board....
Meanwhile, Tessie has confined herself to the sewing room above the hat shop....

She finished four aprons, with the exception of the snaps. She informed me that all fastenings were my job.

It looks to me like she has four more in progress....All in all...When she is done, she will have 19 aprons....I do hope that will be enough....Fingers crossed...

See you tomorrow.

Tessie should have been drowned at birth! She'll have you in the loony bin if you don't get a break from aprons!! Love, love the chest.

Sorry Susan, that would be impossible....Tessie is a lot older than I am. Actually, I like having her around. She keeps me on my toes and building minis.LOL

I love the chest! Does Tessie have some sort of secret bin where she "dumps" what she doesn't approve of? My Valentina is not too proud to go dumpster diving. LOL =)

I like what you did with the chest, Casey. You did a good job aging it. I like that parchment white. Must get some of that. And, what would we ever do without our little Tessie?

LOL you seem to have unleashed an apronmonster. I guess it could be worse..she could become addicted to all that victorian clothing with the zillions of buttons! On the bright side, she'll look lovely, very Springy, in all those new aprons. You, however, are gonna need a vacation, LOL.

Lucille, look for "Old Parchment" in the Ceramcoat line of paint.

Merri, I don't have to worry about Tessie liking Victorian clothes. To restrictive for her, and how would they look without shoes?

I think that the painting on the chest just needs to be a bit darker, so that it can be more easily seen.
