An Apron Annex Is In Order......

I should have known that it would come to this....Tessie announced, this morning, that she needed more closet space for her aprons. "It can't be in the townhouse. I would have to cut the size of the bedroom by at least half. I need a brand new space."...

I tried very hard to ignore her. It didn't work. I heard her rummaging around the workroom. The next thing I knew, she had commandeered a small hanging cabinet. Her idea being, that it would hang on the wall near the townhouse, so that she could easily reach the aprons.

"Come on! It will be easy!", and with that said, she whisked it away to the kitchen. In about half an hour, I had it wallpapered, floored and a pole arrangement, like the one in the townhouse closet installed.

It wasn't easy, what with Tessie trying to fill the closet before it was finished and Widget helping out any way he could....His idea of helping is pushing in to get his ears scratched.

I showed this before, but I will repeat. It is an easy way to install closet poles. I simply cut a couple of boards to stand at each end of the closet. I drilled a hole in each one. Then I cut a skewer the length of the closet space. I won't give measurements. Each closet is different.

After I finished installing the rod, I started making wire hangers. Bending them as fast as I could, I made enough to hang five more aprons.

That makes a total of eight hanging up now.

Tessie has lots more to hang. It looks like I will be making wire hangers at Wednesday Witches today. I also still have to sew fasteners to the waistbands.

"Casey!!! Help me with this door!". Heaven forbid that she would put down the aprons and open it herself....

OK...I opened the door. Now you can see what I am up against....Lots and lots more aprons to hang.....Very little space to hang them in....

I will try for some of the shorter ones to hang on the bottom floor.

Unfortunately, the top is already almost full. If she keeps it up, the annex is going to need another annex....and another.....and maybe even another.

I just hope that once this annex and the regular closet are stuffed, she will be satisfied....

Just dreaming again, I know.

See you tomorrow with a finished apron annex.

So cute! I like your description of how to make the closet clothes pole--thanks!

All those cute aprons are pure eye candy! Love the multitude of colours. Watch out, Casey! Tessie might just suddenly decide that her cupboards are empty and ask for vegetables, meat platters, baked goods! You never know with Tessie!

Lucille, I am not worried about the eating thing. Tessie regularly takes anything she wants from my cupboards. And besides, so far, she doesn't have any kitchen in the townhouse....

Casey, if you have time could you tell us how you made those wire hangers? I bought a few at a mini show recently and they were very expensive. I would love to know how you made yours because they look perfect!

An apron annex, too funny! Glad Tessie will have a place to put all of her pretty aprons. :D
Has she asked for matching hats yet?

Nina, if you go here, you will find a simple tutorial. I did this one for a laundry bag and clothespins. You can make it a bit longer if you want wider shoulders.

The ones that I am doing for the aprons have a bend in both ends to hold the straps in place. Maybe I will show you how to make a jig for them tomorrow.
