You Look Different.....

Well.....As predicted, Tessie got her way. I didn't have to redo everything. I simply exchanged the apron for an overdress. I can't give you a pattern. Unfortunately, the dress was done by the" cut, try on, trim, sew, cut some more , try on again, trim again and sew once more" method.

She likes this one. I think that it will stay a while, until she decides it's too dressy to work in or some other lame excuse.

I can tell you that the blouse and pantaloons all came from one handkerchief and the underskirt came from another one. The trim around the bottom is like the first tatting that I ever did, so I didn't feel guilty for cutting it up. I imagine it was someone's first try at tatting long ago.

I did put the two rows of tucks around the bottom. That was easy I simply folded in a straight line and sewed a running stitch about 1/16" away from the fold. Then I pressed them both in the same direction.

The overdress is simply cotton calico. I found that at Walmart a couple of years ago.

Tessie has been wandering around trying to remember lines from "Gone With the Wind". She says that the dress reminds her of one of Scarlett's dresses. "Fiddle De De!" and Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a flying fig." have been used a lot, but I don't seem to remember Rhett
ever using those exact words......Maybe she needs to sit down and watch it again...

Speaking of sitting down, I didn't get a lot done on the chair this morning. I do have a good excuse.

I am now cat and hen sitting for April and Seth. I have to go over there every morning through next Saturday and feed the critters. They are out of town.

Then I came home and bagged up four more piles of tiny fingernail clipping leaves.

Here's a sneak peek at part of the chair in question. Please keep in mind that some of the loops and weaving still have to be tightened up and adjusted before it is finished. You can see that I still have to weave up a ways.

From today until Saturday, I will be reporting on the day before instead of the day of the entry. Otherwise, I would not get an entry in until late afternoon. I will get back on schedule as soon as they get back.
By the way, I got the title above from Zar. He keeps following Tessie around and trying to figure out what is different about her. So far he has guessed, dyed hair, plucked eyebrows, new clothes, and a face lift....That one almost got him a black eye.

I still don't think that he has figured it out. He probably never will. Tessie likes to keep them guessing.

I do think that she looks a little better than she did before the knee surgery......

See you tomorrow.

Hm..I think to get the Scarlett O'Hara look, Tessie would need to get some shoes. I'm not used to seeing her all ruffled up..If I were Tessie I'd have to go back to the simpler apron and overskirt.

Hey! She's hiding her newest 'assets'! I bet that's where Zar is looking. You know men, they can spot a....nevermind.

Tessie does look very feminine!

Tessie looks so sweet and innocent in her new beautiful outfit! Has she changed or is this part of some master plan? Hmm...

Casey, Tessie is so pretty in her new little dress. She looks like a princess! You did a super job. You always make it seem so easy. I love that fabric you used for the overdress! Why can't I ever find fabric like that? I just want to add that you certainly have a lot of energy. Well, good for you. May it always be so.

Thank you for yet another story, Casey. I am surprised how you never run out of inspiration. Your wicker work is wonderful, I like to follow it and I have to try it one day. And once again I got reminded of the tatting work..wish I had photos of all the handkerchiefs matching the colors of the dresses from way back then :-)
Love, Susanne

Uh oh. Is there a chance Zar is one of the quintessential "boob men?" I hope not. The last thing you need is a romance between them that keeps them allied. ;-)

I do like Tessie's new clothes.

Very nice! Almost has an olde worlde 'royal court' look about it but don't let on to Tessie, she's got enough 'above her station' ideas already.
