Late on Wednesday......

I didn't manage to get the blog done before I left for the mini meeting today. I do have a good excuse though. Tessie and I were making Christmas fruit baskets to take to the meeting.

I had an idea for an easy basket and had to try it out....8 times...One for Tessie and one for each of the other witches.

I gathered together some Christmas card stock, my Exacto rotary cutter, glue, scissors, and mini fruit.

I cut strips of the paper anywhere from 1/8 to 3/16" wide. Then I cut a base card stock 1/2" wide and long enough to fit around a woodsie, about the size of a nickle, with a small overlap.
In cut the strips into short pieces to go on the base paper.

I drew lines of glue along the width of the paper and laid the strips on, leaving a bit of the base paper showing through. Then I trimmed the strips flush with the edge of the paper.

I put glue on the edge of the round woodsie and wrapped the paper around it.

Then I took a strip and wrapped it around the bottom outside of the basket and cut it off. I did the same at the top.

How's that for a fast basket? You could add handles on the sides or across the top, but since I was filling the baskets, I didn't bother.
I put a piece of dry floral foam in each basket and glued Styrofoam balls from my stash of fruit colored sprigs from silk flowers.

I filled in any gaps with lycopodium left over from the Christmas tree.

We made 7 to take to the witches. I gave Tessie hers and as she was examining it, I ran for the door.

I managed to get out before she realized I was leaving so I didn't have to take her along.

Anyway, if you want a quick project, this is about as quick as they get.

Have fun making very easy Christmas baskets.

See you tomorrow.
